A Thank You Letter to My Forever Best Friends
Roger Frye Photograhy

Growing up, I was always worried about making friends because I always thought that once school was over, so were your friendships. Lucky for me, that wasn’t the case. I was fortunate enough to meet some of the most important people in my life in Middle School and they are still there for me now. This is for them.

Thank you for always being there.

Growing up and going through becoming a teenager can be difficult. It would have been very hard, luckily, you were all there for me. Through the good times and bad, I would always have you to turn to. When I was in need of a friend for anything, you all were there, and I’m thankful for that every day.

Thank you for being my living diary.

Through all my problems, you were always there with open ears. I never had to bottle things up and keep them to myself. Whenever something seemed wrong, all of you knew. I would always have your shoulder open to cry on if needed. We could always talk about bad grades (because our B’s used to be heartbreaking), teachers being too hard on us, and our favorite, cute boys at school. Anything we needed to talk about, we always had each other.

Thank you for making me laugh.

Anytime I needed a good laugh, all I needed to do was be around any one of you. You all could make me laugh over the silliest things. When we were together, everything was a good time. A smile would permanently be pasted on my face and my cheeks and stomach would hurt by the end of the night from all the laughter. From making up our own pick-up lines and songs, to making funny videos, to making our own Apples to Apples cards, we always had a good time when we were together.

Thank you for the memories.

From the beginning of Middle School, to where I’m at now, all my favorite memories include at least one of you. From weekend sleepovers, to high school dances, all the best times were spent together. I will always remember our late-night scrap booking, our last-minute plans to play Mario Kart after school, and our random pictures that we would take for fun. I’ll never forget the hours we spent getting ready for dances, or all the birthdays spent together, or even the little things like sitting in a room and talking for hours. All these memories will be with me forever and will always make me smile.

Thank you for being my friends still to this day.

Even though we no longer are in school together, we all still stay in touch. Thanks to our group chat, we can still talk everyday about anything. Sometimes, we may feel annoyed, or feel like one of us is drifting away, but I know that no matter what we will always love each other unconditionally and always be there for each other. I know we will be forever best friends. I can’t wait for all of us to be in each other’s weddings or to be there for the birth of all our children, introducing them to all their aunts. I can’t wait to go to our High School reunion and not have to catch up with each other because we already know exactly what has been going on in each other’s lives. I can’t wait to grow old and crazy together, talking about our grandchildren and telling them our story. I can’t wait to see what our future as friends holds, because I know the friendship will always exist.

One last thank you…

I may have thanked you for everything, but here’s the most important. Thank you for being my sisters. Through it all, the heartbreak, the smiles, the long night conversations, and the parent problems, we were all there together, going through it as a little family. We will forever be friends, and I am eternally grateful for that. I love you guys so much, never forget it.

Small towns certainly have their pros and cons. Many people who grow up in small towns find themselves counting the days until they get to escape their roots and plant new ones in bigger, "better" places. And that's fine. I'd be lying if I said I hadn't thought those same thoughts before too. We all have, but they say it's important to remember where you came from. When I think about where I come from, I can't help having an overwhelming feeling of gratitude for my roots. Being from a small town has taught me so many important lessons that I will carry with me for the rest of my life.

I can't say "thank you" enough to express how grateful I am for you coming into my life. You have made such a huge impact on my life. I would not be the person I am today without you and I know that you will keep inspiring me to become an even better version of myself.

Course registration at college can be a big hassle and is almost never talked about. Classes you want to take fill up before you get a chance to register. You might change your mind about a class you want to take and must struggle to find another class to fit in the same time period. You also have to make sure no classes clash by time. Like I said, it's a big hassle.

This semester, I was waitlisted for two classes. Most people in this situation, especially first years, freak out because they don't know what to do. Here is what you should do when this happens.

Challah vs. Easter Bread: A Delicious Dilemma

Is there really such a difference in Challah bread or Easter Bread?

Ever since I could remember, it was a treat to receive Easter Bread made by my grandmother. We would only have it once a year and the wait was excruciating. Now that my grandmother has gotten older, she has stopped baking a lot of her recipes that require a lot of hand usage--her traditional Italian baking means no machines. So for the past few years, I have missed enjoying my Easter Bread.
