Thank you isn't enough.

An Open Letter To My Teachers
Suburban Princess Teacher

Dear My Teachers Past, Present and Future-

You all have shaped me into the person that I am today. From the tough lessons, listening ear and encouragement--it has all brought me here today.

My fourth grade teacher: You cared. You reached out to me when I needed it. You made sure I knew I wasn't alone, and took the extra time from your day to make sure I was going to make it through the day OK. You made me realize I could.

My seventh grade teacher: You listened. I reached out to you when I was being bullied, and I knew you were going to do your best to make it stop. You made the difficult school year a little more bearable. I knew you were there to help, even though we didn't know each other that well. You still went above and beyond.

My high school science teacher: You understood. You could tell if I was having a bad day. You would encourage me to keep going. You made it clear you were always there to listen, always.

My high school English teachers: You all pushed me. You knew you I could do more, even when I didn't. You challenged me to think more, observe more and write more. You wanted me to push the limits I had set for myself academically. Thanks to you, you renewed my love in reading, writing and learning.

My high school theater teacher: You believed in me. You gave me opportunities to learn and grow and helped ignite my passion for the theater. I think we both helped each other through a lot, and for that I will be eternally grateful.

My college communication professor: You support me. You're always free to lend a listening ear and listen to my ideas no matter how crazy they might be. Thank you for always being there, and going above and beyond. I can never thank you enough.

My college theater professors: You challenge me. You know when I'm not doing my best, and push me to do better. You've allowed me new opportunities and challenges that have pushed me academically and artistically.

"Thank you," just doesn't seem like enough. Thank you for the lessons, the laughs, the tears and learning together. I take a part of you with me when I think about the teacher I still hope to be. You all have inspired me to do more and challenge myself everyday.

Thank you, will never be enough.

My love and appreciation,

Your past, current and future student.

Every Girl Needs To Listen To 'She Used To Be Mine' By Sara Bareilles

These powerful lyrics remind us how much good is inside each of us and that sometimes we are too blinded by our imperfections to see the other side of the coin, to see all of that good.

Every Girl Needs To Listen To 'She Used To Be Mine' By Sara Bareilles

The song was sent to me late in the middle of the night. I was still awake enough to plug in my headphones and listen to it immediately. I always did this when my best friend sent me songs, never wasting a moment. She had sent a message with this one too, telling me it reminded her so much of both of us and what we have each been through in the past couple of months.

Zodiac wheel with signs and symbols surrounding a central sun against a starry sky.

What's your sign? It's one of the first questions some of us are asked when approached by someone in a bar, at a party or even when having lunch with some of our friends. Astrology, for centuries, has been one of the largest phenomenons out there. There's a reason why many magazines and newspapers have a horoscope page, and there's also a reason why almost every bookstore or library has a section dedicated completely to astrology. Many of us could just be curious about why some of us act differently than others and whom we will get along with best, and others may just want to see if their sign does, in fact, match their personality.

Being a good person does not depend on your religion or status in life, your race or skin color, political views or culture. It depends on how good you treat others.

We are all born to do something great. Whether that be to grow up and become a doctor and save the lives of thousands of people, run a marathon, win the Noble Peace Prize, or be the greatest mother or father for your own future children one day. Regardless, we are all born with a purpose. But in between birth and death lies a path that life paves for us; a path that we must fill with something that gives our lives meaning.
