We're in this for life.

A Letter To My Best Friend
Samantha R.

You are more than a best friend; you are my person. Our bond is inseparable. From coming over to just nap, all the way to spontaneous adventures, I wouldn't want to do it with anyone else. No one else has helped me through more than you have, and I am forever grateful. I don't know if you realize how much you have done for me, so I'd like to say thank you for...

Including me when no one else did.

You never failed to bring me with you to events, or even just to dinner to make sure I was okay. If you were with friends from your school, you'd still let me tag along because you didn't want me to be lonely. Whenever I texted you to just come over and listen to music, or to go to a concert with me, you would immediately reply and be on your way over. Thank for you being there no matter what.

Going to concerts with me.

Both of us have the exact same taste in music, which connected us even more. You are the reason why I opened up, and started going to shows. Our first show back in 2014 was Neck Deep, Real Friends, Have Mercy and Cruel Hand, and that's what made our bond grow. Every single show after that was accompanied by you, and that's the only way I wanted it to be. Thank you for being there no matter what.

Teaching me to exude confidence.

I've never met anyone who had the confidence that you have. You taught me how to truly love myself, and also to not wear makeup in public and still feel beautiful. No matter what, you'd find a way to make sure I felt good about myself. High school was always rough, but you taught me to just worry about myself and who cares about me, and I was able to make it through because of that. Thank you for being there no matter what.

Being my own personal therapist.

Without you, I probably wouldn't be here today. Through countless nights of panic attacks, crying, ranting about boys and depressive episodes, you were right there to listen. You always send me songs if you aren't able to come over, and one was "Missing You" by All Time Low. The lyrics in that song represent our friendship, and made me a stronger person. Whatever was running through our heads, we could talk all night long with each other to make sure we were okay. Thank you for being there no matter what.

Just being you.

Your shining personality, strength, and beauty absolutely blows me away. Having you as a genuine, honest best friend makes life so much more fun. During the summer, you would come over and we would watch vines or quote them all night long. We have countless inside jokes from our terrible sarcasm, and lack of auto-correct... But on a serious note, I love how you will always stand your ground for your beliefs, and never settle for people's negativity. Also, you chase after what you love, for instance cross fit (which still blows my mind how amazing you are at that)... Nothing can beat the motivation and drive you possess, which shows that you will go so far in life.

Even if we are across the country from each other, we will never forget where we came from and the memories we made at home. I will never find a friendship as wonderful and entertaining as ours, and I am totally fine with that. Here's to the adventures in the future, because you already know that you're stuck with me forever. I love you best friend, and one last thing: thank you for being there no matter what.

Every Girl Needs To Listen To 'She Used To Be Mine' By Sara Bareilles

These powerful lyrics remind us how much good is inside each of us and that sometimes we are too blinded by our imperfections to see the other side of the coin, to see all of that good.

Every Girl Needs To Listen To 'She Used To Be Mine' By Sara Bareilles

The song was sent to me late in the middle of the night. I was still awake enough to plug in my headphones and listen to it immediately. I always did this when my best friend sent me songs, never wasting a moment. She had sent a message with this one too, telling me it reminded her so much of both of us and what we have each been through in the past couple of months.

Zodiac wheel with signs and symbols surrounding a central sun against a starry sky.

What's your sign? It's one of the first questions some of us are asked when approached by someone in a bar, at a party or even when having lunch with some of our friends. Astrology, for centuries, has been one of the largest phenomenons out there. There's a reason why many magazines and newspapers have a horoscope page, and there's also a reason why almost every bookstore or library has a section dedicated completely to astrology. Many of us could just be curious about why some of us act differently than others and whom we will get along with best, and others may just want to see if their sign does, in fact, match their personality.

Being a good person does not depend on your religion or status in life, your race or skin color, political views or culture. It depends on how good you treat others.

We are all born to do something great. Whether that be to grow up and become a doctor and save the lives of thousands of people, run a marathon, win the Noble Peace Prize, or be the greatest mother or father for your own future children one day. Regardless, we are all born with a purpose. But in between birth and death lies a path that life paves for us; a path that we must fill with something that gives our lives meaning.
