Dear Deserter,
I want to thank you more than anyone for leaving. For a long time, I have struggled with people leaving my life. However, as I have grown up, I have learned it is way better to say thank you. These are the people who have shaped and molded you into a stronger human being. They left, and they are gone, so let's stop dwelling on it and raise our glasses and say thank you.
Thank you for leaving me at a bad time. You left me at such a low point in my life when I needed you more than anything or anyone. I could have used your support more than anything, but you chose to decide that you didn’t want to help me. You made me a stronger person by leaving me. I learned that I don’t need to rely on anyone other than myself. You made me stronger than I ever imagined I could be. I no longer rely on others, and I am very guarded with whom I let help me.
Thank you for allowing me to learn to let go. Before you left, I held things with me for months to years. Now, when something bad happens, I have learned the power of saying, “Oh well.” There is nothing stronger than turning your back and saying, “You know what? I’m OK without you in my life.”
Thank you if you’re still texting me. I don’t know if you are because you’re blocked, but thank you for still thinking of me. I hope you now know the pain of being abandoned. I hope you now feel the intense pain that comes along with a silence from the other end of the phone. Don’t get me wrong, I hope you are well, but forgive me when I say I don’t want to hear from you.
Thank you for making me a stronger person. Thank you for leaving me behind, so I am leaving you behind if you come back. You can't come back. If this reaches you, I hope you’re well, but I want nothing to do with you.
Sincerely,
A stronger woman
