A Thank-You To The Most Amazing Parents Ever

Dear Mom and Dad,

Thank you for giving me the most amazing childhood.

We moved quite a bit as we were growing up, but that just made me so much more adventurous. I honestly don't know how you guys managed to move so much with such a big family. Moving on to the boat was one of the best decisions we have ever made. I wouldn't be the person I am today without you guys making that decision.

Thank you for my siblings.

You didn't just give me family, you gave me three best friends. Growing up I always had someone to play with and someone to talk to. I had three other people to make the mistakes that I could learn from. I couldn't live my life without these amazing people.

Thank you for teaching me.

Thank you for teaching me how to drive, how to grow, and how to love. You guys have always exemplified everything I want to be both as a person and as a future parent and wife. You have not just taught me how to live, but also you have taught me how to be the best person I can be. You've taught me how to accept myself and my decisions and how to be better.

Thank you for loving me and supporting me.

No matter what I do, I know both of you will always have my back. You have always supported me. Through my ballet days, my swimming days, and my basketball days, you guys have always been there. You were able to cheer me on even when I was tossing the other kids around on stage (they just didn't know the dance, as well as I, did). I was always proud and excited to bring my report card home because I knew you would both be there to congratulate me and be my cheerleaders.

Thank you for protecting me.

You guys kept me and my siblings so safe all through our childhood. Even though we are all moved out, you have given us the correct tools to stay safe in this crazy world.

You guys have given me everything! You've shown me how to follow my dreams. You've shown me that if everything goes wrong, I will ALWAYS have two of the best people to help me pick up the pieces and figure out something else. I am so beyond blessed to call you my parents. Thank you for the years of advice and love and support.

Love,

Your daughter

Small towns certainly have their pros and cons. Many people who grow up in small towns find themselves counting the days until they get to escape their roots and plant new ones in bigger, "better" places. And that's fine. I'd be lying if I said I hadn't thought those same thoughts before too. We all have, but they say it's important to remember where you came from. When I think about where I come from, I can't help having an overwhelming feeling of gratitude for my roots. Being from a small town has taught me so many important lessons that I will carry with me for the rest of my life.

I can't say "thank you" enough to express how grateful I am for you coming into my life. You have made such a huge impact on my life. I would not be the person I am today without you and I know that you will keep inspiring me to become an even better version of myself.

Course registration at college can be a big hassle and is almost never talked about. Classes you want to take fill up before you get a chance to register. You might change your mind about a class you want to take and must struggle to find another class to fit in the same time period. You also have to make sure no classes clash by time. Like I said, it's a big hassle.

This semester, I was waitlisted for two classes. Most people in this situation, especially first years, freak out because they don't know what to do. Here is what you should do when this happens.

Challah vs. Easter Bread: A Delicious Dilemma

Is there really such a difference in Challah bread or Easter Bread?

Ever since I could remember, it was a treat to receive Easter Bread made by my grandmother. We would only have it once a year and the wait was excruciating. Now that my grandmother has gotten older, she has stopped baking a lot of her recipes that require a lot of hand usage--her traditional Italian baking means no machines. So for the past few years, I have missed enjoying my Easter Bread.
