Growing up, I had always been surrounded by people who were very similar to me if not the same. I had gone to private school my entire life. The friends I had all my life were fairly the same. There is nothing wrong with that and I am not ashamed or trying to hide how my life played out. I will forever cherish my friends back at home and appreciate our friendship and memories, but there is something completely different about your friends at home vs. your friends in college. Once I went to college, my friend group immediately changed. People you never imaged you could be close to turn out to be your best friends. I now have friends from all over the world, with all different looks and beliefs than me. It is not only an amazing feeling knowing your diversifying your friend group and life in general, but you truly culture yourself when you don't limit yourself on who your friends are. When coming to college, you seriously need to hold back judgement on others until you get to know them for who they are. Becoming friends with so many people has allowed me to learn more about other people, beliefs, ethnicity, etc. But it has also taught me about myself. I would have never known I like some of the things I do now if I did not surround myself with such a different group of people. So I would just like to thank all of my friends, from the ones back at home who have helped shape me into the person I am today, and also to the ones I am making in college, for broadening my look on life.
