Next Summer Will Be Here Before We Know It, But Here's To The Friends That Made This One Amazing

Thanks for going to the beach in May and swimming in ice cold water and playing improv games with me.

Dear Best Friends,

It's always been weird but also not weird at all, for all you guys to be two years younger than me. It's given me the chance to stay younger than I actually am and more time to spend with you before you head off in different directions to college.

Don't worry this isn't a goodbye letter. It's not like I will never see you all again, in fact, we'll probably see each other sooner than we all expect.

This last summer has been the most memorable I've had with all of you in a long time, and I just wanted to say thanks.

Thanks for going to the beach in May and swimming in ice cold water and playing improv games with me.

Thanks for the smoothies and chips we bought before we got the scare of our lives from a drunk driver. And for still coming over to watch Doctor Who even after that occurrence.

Thanks for applying to work with me and making the hard shifts so much better just by seeing your smile.

Thanks for going to the fair with me, going on four rides, drinking watermelon, then going home to eat pineapple and play the Wii.

Thanks for hanging out with me during Cedar Point. For going on the water rides while bonding over boys. For being my extremely complicated family for the day.

Thanks for the swing dance, ice cream, and breadsticks.

Thanks for not making me go alone to see five movies on the same day! And walking to Target with me in between movies and watching me impulse buy a butt load of Harry Potter socks.

Thanks for sending me all those pictures of Hawaii and dreaming/planning to move there with me someday in the future.

Thanks for that trivia night you made ten times more fun just because of your presence. And for failing epically at answering questions correctly.

Thanks for the mission trip, for singing "The Greatest Showman" and other songs at the top of our lungs, and for the photoshoot.

Thanks for going up north with, biking around Mackinac Island, star gazing, and helping me flirt with a guy I couldn't even see.

Thanks for being my only friend who will jam out to my entire Broadway musical playlist with me and introducing me to even more musicals to add to my playlist.

Thanks for eating cherries on the lake and killing horse flies with noodles.

Thanks for taking me to play laser tag for my first time ever and collecting tokens off the ground.

Thanks for making this summer memorable.

I'll look forward to seeing you all again on breaks and next summer, after all, this isn't a goodbye letter.

I love you all and miss you already, good luck in college, I know you'll be amazing. Just keep being you. The crazy amazing you that I love and look forward to seeing again.

Next summer will be here faster than we know it, but for now, enjoy each day of your new college experiences.

Hugs to you all!

Love, Abbie

For as long as I can remember, I have been listening to The Beatles. Every year, my mom would appropriately blast “Birthday” on anyone’s birthday. I knew all of the words to “Back In The U.S.S.R” by the time I was 5 (Even though I had no idea what or where the U.S.S.R was). I grew up with John, Paul, George, and Ringo instead Justin, JC, Joey, Chris and Lance (I had to google N*SYNC to remember their names). The highlight of my short life was Paul McCartney in concert twice. I’m not someone to “fangirl” but those days I fangirled hard. The music of The Beatles has gotten me through everything. Their songs have brought me more joy, peace, and comfort. I can listen to them in any situation and find what I need. Here are the best lyrics from The Beatles for every and any occasion.

Small towns certainly have their pros and cons. Many people who grow up in small towns find themselves counting the days until they get to escape their roots and plant new ones in bigger, "better" places. And that's fine. I'd be lying if I said I hadn't thought those same thoughts before too. We all have, but they say it's important to remember where you came from. When I think about where I come from, I can't help having an overwhelming feeling of gratitude for my roots. Being from a small town has taught me so many important lessons that I will carry with me for the rest of my life.

I can't say "thank you" enough to express how grateful I am for you coming into my life. You have made such a huge impact on my life. I would not be the person I am today without you and I know that you will keep inspiring me to become an even better version of myself.

Course registration at college can be a big hassle and is almost never talked about. Classes you want to take fill up before you get a chance to register. You might change your mind about a class you want to take and must struggle to find another class to fit in the same time period. You also have to make sure no classes clash by time. Like I said, it's a big hassle.

This semester, I was waitlisted for two classes. Most people in this situation, especially first years, freak out because they don't know what to do. Here is what you should do when this happens.
