To My Freshman Suite,
Only three months ago I only knew most of you by your Facebook profile picture and the picture displayed in our GroupMe chat, but I would soon be living with you. We exchanged excited, nervous messages about what kind of posters we want in the common room and who would bring the metal garbage cans. I was so scared you wouldn't like me or we just wouldn't work. Suddenly, move in day was here and among all the stress of remembering to pack every last college necessity I remembered that I would meet you all today, too. I saw you in passing; collecting your keys from the RAs and you walked by me to set up your rooms. We even exchanged awkward hello's at one point while our parents casually discussed how hard it would be to leave. The first night we didn't all eat dinner together, but everyone was really nice, just forced. Those first two weeks were interesting; between discovering each others sense of humor and our little quirks there was never a dull moment.
Fast forward two months and you guys are some of my best friends. Every morning I wake up and make each of you help decide if my outfit is cute enough or if it matters I'm wearing pajamas to class. We eat way too many meals together and can predict each others favorite dinning hall staple. I know about all your friends from home and even jokingly refer to them as if I know them. We constantly give each other the best (and worst) advice about how to handle the really cute guy you just can't get the courage to say hi to. I can tell what kind of day you've had by the way you start to anxiously clean any available surface and have gained the skills to determine which class that day made you the most stressed. I always have popcorn on the ready for your worst days...and your best...and really any day in between. You make me feel sane when I leave a chemistry quiz I most definitely failed, but studied so hard for. I am lucky enough to come back to you guys every night and update you all on my stressful day or about the dog I saw walking across campus. You have become such a tremendous part of my life it is crazy to me that we didn't even know the other existed only three months ago.
I am constantly thankful for little roommate lottery I won with you guys. You made this transition so much easier and more fun; you made this room feel like home. Plans have already been made to visit each other over Christmas break because we really can't go an entire month without seeing each other. I am so thankful for each and every one of you and I can't wait to see what next semester holds for us!
Love,
Caroline
