Mom, Thank You For Making Me The Strong Woman I Am Today
Zoe Neilson

First, I’d like to thank you, for everything you’ve done to make me the woman I am today. Thank you for showing me what being a strong and empowered woman resembles. You showed me what it means to be compassionate and empathetic for others. While also exhibiting self-respect and standing up for what you believe in. You have always supported my endeavors and my dreams, with only words of advice along the way.

For many, knowing where you come from is the very first thing you learn. What I’ve learned is that no matter what your biology says, the way your raised is what makes you, you. To me, it doesn’t matter that we don’t share our blood, what matters is that we share our hearts. You’ve raised me to the best and brightest of your abilities, sharing with me your best qualities. I am so thankful for the life you’ve given me since the day I arrived.

You have impacted me in ways no one else ever will. You showed me the ways of life and held my hand every step of the way. From my very short career in ballet, to my very long journey in school; you've helped me grow every day. Even now, when you text me every once in a while, I get a smile on my face. I know that no matter where I am, you'll always be by my side.

Having a positive role-model like you has shaped parts of my personality. Watching you beat cancer twice, with grace and strength. Seeing how you touch people’s lives day after day. At the end of the day, you still have friends who are your family and a home filled with love and adoration. From a young age, I’ve watched you defend and protect the people you love. To this day, you have changed the lives around you.

Now that I am an adult, I see the beauty that is you. I understand the rules and guidelines which you set for me earlier in life. I appreciate all that you have done to make my life all that it could be. I only hope that my future is as bright as yours and that I can have my best friend by my side every step of the way. No matter how old, I’ll always need a warm hug from my number one fan since day one.

This semester, I was waitlisted for two classes. Most people in this situation, especially first years, freak out because they don't know what to do. Here is what you should do when this happens.

Ever since I could remember, it was a treat to receive Easter Bread made by my grandmother. We would only have it once a year and the wait was excruciating. Now that my grandmother has gotten older, she has stopped baking a lot of her recipes that require a lot of hand usage--her traditional Italian baking means no machines. So for the past few years, I have missed enjoying my Easter Bread.

Top 10 Reasons My School Rocks!

Why I Chose a Small School Over a Big University.

I was asked so many times why I wanted to go to a small school when a big university is so much better. Don't get me wrong, I'm sure a big university is great but I absolutely love going to a small school. I know that I miss out on big sporting events and having people actually know where it is. I can't even count how many times I've been asked where it is and I know they won't know so I just say "somewhere in the middle of Wisconsin." But, I get to know most people at my school and I know my professors very well. Not to mention, being able to walk to the other side of campus in 5 minutes at a casual walking pace. I am so happy I made the decision to go to school where I did. I love my school and these are just a few reasons why.
