With Thanksgiving being this week, I wanted to reflect on my life and really take the time to thank two people who I know I should say it more to. So first of all, thank you, thank you Mom and Dad. I know that 18 years on earth may seem like nothing, and I probably don’t know everything… yet. But I do know one thing; I was blessed to be born into a family with parents as great as you.
Eighteen years ago you gave birth to me. Me being your final child, I was and always will be the baby of the family. I can only imagine how hard it must have been. Raising a newborn while also raising a four year old, and even looking after my three older siblings, you guys did it all. Both working at the time too, I can’t fathom the idea of how much work you guys had cut out for you. All I can say is thank you.
Growing up with parents who both happened to be nurses rocked. You guys always knew exactly what to do. Always knew how to handle my newest clumsy incident. When I broke my arm, Dad you made me a sling until I got to the hospital, like how cool is that? And Mom, thank you for holding my hand after my car accident in middle school, it was way less scary knowing you were there.
There are some things I wanted to thank you both specifically for. Dad, thank you for teaching me that new things are always out there. Thank you for encouraging me to always find a new passion, to always keep learning. Thank you for picking me up every day from high school so I didn’t have to walk home (even if the weather was fine haha.) Thank you for everything you have ever done.
Mom, I was never easy on you, you always said I was the reason for your grey hair, I love you even more for that. Mom, thank you for being exactly what I ever needed and ever wanted in a mom. Thank you for being my role model. Thank you for listening to me cry over dumb boys, and bad test grades. Thank you for always telling me how its “National Be-Nice Day!” over and over again. Thank you for being my girl scout leader at one point, and my in home nurse at another, thank you for absolutely everything.
I really just wanted to take this opportunity to publically thank my parents. I know this gesture is so small, but I thought it was a good start to showing my appreciation towards the both of you. I love you so much, thank you for everything you have ever, and will ever do for me.
