She was not the girl you clicked with right off the bat, she might even be the one that you thought was rude or didn't understand why she was giving you the cold shoulder.
She might have been the girl that you did not click with off the bat, you knew of her but really didn't know her. But she ended up being exactly what you needed.
Do not surround yourself with echo chambers.
The people that echo the things you say and tell you the things you like are doing you a disservice. A real woman does not need to agree because she knows, you deserve more than an echo of your own opinion.
It will not be easy to stand in her shoes. She knows there will be times when you get mad at her, thinks she's rude, inconsiderate of your feelings, and does not understand where you are coming from. But that is far from the truth.
She did not take the easy way out. The easy thing is agreeing and then the conversation is over, but she challenges you. Challenges you as a woman, a friend, and forces you to grow within yourself. She makes you think from a different perspective and stand in a different pair of shoes.
She is not afraid to hurt your feelings because as soon as your feelings are done hurting, she is right there to pick up the friendship where it left off.
We as women say we want a real friend, a friend to tell me how it is. But do we really understand what that comment really entails? The truth can is messy, harsh, rough around the edges, but it is the realist encounter you will have with her.
She wants you to be the best form of yourself, so when she sees you slipping. She is right there to wave the red flag and let you know what she thinks.
She is true blue, what you see is what you get with her. There will be times where throwing down with her is necessary. Because friendships like this do not come around often. Girls search their whole life for the one girl, who understand what it means to be a friend.
We have lost what it really means to be a friend. A friend is not a girl that you take Instagram pics, she is not the girl you meet up with on the weekends. She is the one that answers the phone at 2 am on a Tuesday.
This is the one girl that no matter how far you drift apart, as soon as you are together, it is like no time has passed between you too.
This will be the girl that will stand behind you when you say "Yes" to the man you have choosen to be your husband.
This will be the girl that is holding the camera when your first baby comes into the world.
This is the girl that you will talk to your daughter about, on how to be a good friend, and what she should look for in a good friend.
This will be the woman that you will look back at pictures when you were young and reminisce about all the things that you did, regret, or wish you could do again. But no matter what kind of memories pop up, you know this woman is true. True to you and true to your friendship.
So thank the woman that did not take the easy route in the relationship, who put in the hard work, and always gave it to you how it was.
