It’s that time again; the end of the year, finals are over, the grades are almost in. We've all worked really hard to make it through the semester. Sometimes we (myself included) forget who else worked to get us to this point as well. A lot of the time when I hear the words that come out of myself and my fellow college students' mouths when it comes to speaking about their professors, I hear complaining. "Ugh, she talks way too much, we never get out early." or "Wow his grading is way too harsh. I definitely deserved an A." Many a complaint has come out of my mouth about the many professors I've had over my three years here. There are definitely pros and cons to every professor, and not every professor is going to be your favorite. With 2016 and a new semester so close, I'm feeling a bit sentimental. I want to look at the good qualities in my professors, and highlight the ones who have definitely made college what it is.
So thank you, to the professors who spend ample time on each student's assignment, giving constructive criticism, and really encourage students to improve with each assignment.
Thank you, to the professors who sparked a real interest in a student, in a subject area that the student would have never guessed they'd ever be interested in previously.
Thank you to the professors who stayed up all night grading exams so us students could have them back as soon as possible to study for the next exam and learn from our previous mistakes.
Thank you to the professors who make each student feel as though no question is too stupid, and no contribution in class is too small. You are the ones who have turned students who never participated in classes into regular contributors.
Thank you to the professors who have become so much more than professors. You have become our shoulders to cry on, our mentors, and in some cases our friends. You've helped many of us apply to grad school and even get jobs and internships and believe me, we are all grateful you took that time to write us a stellar letter of reccomendation.
To all those professors out there, the ones who have changed our college experiences (and lives) for the better, and for that we thank you. You've changed our outlook on education, and in many cases issues in the world. You've worked your butt off to ensure we learn everything we can from you. So thank you, for giving it your all, and making our education your priority. You are truly special.
