There are many things that we thank our parents for throughout our lives. There are the obvious things, like food, a house to live in, cars and clothes. There are the special occasions like Christmas and birthdays that we are even more thankful. But there are so many things that our parents are responsible for that we do not thank them for. These are the little things that go unnoticed, but really have a huge impact on our lives, and it’s time that they are acknowledged.
Thank you for always making us eat as a family as children.
You taught me the importance of family and talking to one another. Even though everyone was busy, there was always a warm, home-cooked meal on the table and we all ate it together every night. This is where we would connect and be able to discuss what was happening in our lives.
Thank you for always having friends around.
Doing this taught me the importance of strong friendships. From a young age, I saw that friends can be just as close or closer than family. I learned that there are ups and downs in friendships, but having close friends is as important as anything else in life.
Thank you for not giving me everything that I ever asked for.
You taught me the value of a dollar and to work for what I wanted. Because of you, I was forced to get a job and make my own money in order to afford the lifestyle that I was comfortable with. You taught me hard work and the feeling you get when you reward yourself for everything you’ve done.
Thank you for stressing the importance of education.
From as far back as I could remember, you stressed school and homework. There were endless fights and disagreements, but I came out knowing how important education is to success.
Thank you for always answering me no matter what.
There have been endless amounts of times that I have ignored your call, but you answer mine no matter what you’re doing or what time it is. I know that you’ll always be there, which is a comforting feeling like no other.
There are so many “little things” that I can thank you for but the list would never end. So, I just want to say, thank you for everything. Even if I don’t say it to you, I appreciate all the little and big things that you have done for me and thank you in advance for everything you will continue to do for me.
