My family has always been the most important thing in my life. I have been lucky enough to grow up with an amazing support system of people I know I can turn to for anything in the world, and I have my parents to thank for that. Even after their divorce, I still had both of my parents around for me, and no matter what they put me and my siblings before anything else. They have molded me into the person I am today. I have learned so much from them in the short 20 years of my life so far. They have done so much for me and I cannot thank them enough for everything.
Thank you for always supporting me in everything I do. No matter what it is, I know that my parents will support me. Whether it was deciding to go to school in Arkansas, and then changing my mind and moving to Denton or deciding to change my major, they have always believed in me and supported my decisions.
Thank you for always being my number one fans. No matter what I was involved in throughout my life, my parents were always there. My mom, who woke up at five a.m. on Saturday mornings to help me get ready and drive to Dallas or farther for a cheerleading competition and sit all weekend long there with me. Or my dad, who never missed a single Friday night football game my entire four years of high school to watch me cheer. They were always there in the stands for anything I did cheering me on. And it still to this day means the world to me.
Thank you for teaching me to follow my dreams. Even when I was younger, I was one to have big dreams for my future. I wanted to be an interior designer, then a fashion designer, then a Pediatrician, then a nurse. No matter what I was wanting to be that day, my parents always made a point to tell me that I can do anything I set my mind to.
Thank you for showing me unconditional love. For those times when I’m being a pain in the rear, or making dumb decisions, thank you for loving me even when you might not want to at the time.
Thank you for teaching me to love myself. Sometimes it’s hard growing up in a society that tells you that you aren’t good enough. So thank you for reminding me that I am even when I don’t feel like it. Because of you, I know I am good enough and I have learned to love myself for exactly who I am.
Thank you for giving me my siblings. Even though they drive me absolutely crazy 90 percent of the time, I honestly don’t know what I would do without them.
Thank you for staying up and waiting for me to come home. I can’t remember how many times I would get text messages from my parents telling me they are waiting up for me and that the front door is unlocked. Or to wake them when I got home. Even now that I’m off at school living on my own, I still get phones calls and texts asking if I’m ok or back safely in my apartment. Back in high school I might have found it slightly annoying, but now those little text messages mean the world to me.
Thank you for teaching me its OK to make mistakes. For those times when I came home upset because I failed a test, or when I said the wrong thing to a friend. Thank you for reminding me I’m only human and it will all be ok.
Thank you for showing me what it means to be a parent. I know now, exactly the type of parent I want to be in the future. I like to think that I was raised in the best way to raise a child. I hope that one day I can be half the parent you both are to me to my future children.
Thank you for being the best parents I could ever ask for. I truly do not know what I would do without the both of you. Thank you for making me into the person I am today, and being the best example of what a great parent is.
There are so many things my parents have done for me in my life. The more I grow up and start to learn about myself, the more I realize I truly would not be where I am without my parents. So thank you for everything you have done and continue to do. I love you more than I can explain.
