A Thank You Letter to My Best Friend

To my best friend,

I would like to start off by saying thank you. Thank you for everything you have done for me, from letting me into the dorms when I lost my ID to listening to my endless heartbreaks. You were there for me through so much, and in these short few months I can say I have found my true best friend.

This past year you have given me so much more than just a friendship.

You have given me the memories that I will tell my children about. From the nights we ate ice cream and pizza to the Saturdays where we took turns chasing each other around, the memories we made together I will never forget.

You have given me the confidence to be independent. You are constantly telling me to do what I want with my life and to not hold back. These moments of insane courage have created both horrifying and beautiful results but I do not regret any of them because I learned so much.

You have given me a new outlook on life. You tell me to be my own person and to not let anyone tear down what I love. You push me to follow through with everything I start, whether it be a sport, homework or even an outfit.

You have given me so much more than just a friendship, and I cannot thank you enough for all you have done for me.

Thank you for the nights where you let me cry for hours. Thank you for always listening to my problems, no matter how large or small they were. Thank you for watching my favorite movie with me even though you hated it. Thank you for not getting mad at me when I jumped on your bed when you were sleeping.

Thank you for teaching me how to be me. You have helped me become the person I am because you encouraged me to make my own choices without fearing consequences. Sure, we may have cried over some, but we sure laughed about a lot of them.

Thank you for always being there for me. You will always be the first person I text when something happens. You will always be the person I tell my endless stories to, and I really appreciate you listening to them even when it’s the third time you’ve heard it.

You understand me better than anyone. You know my birthday, my favorite ice cream flavor, favorite movie, even my dream job. You know my fears and you know what I am passionate about. I can’t imagine my life without you anymore.

I am so proud to call you my best friend. You are truly individual, and even though I’ve listened to countless rants and raves, I wouldn’t change our friendship for the world. I’m beyond blessed to have you in my life. From our crying sessions about getting our lives together to our endless fashion shows before going out, these past few months have been the best of my life.

I cannot wait to see where you go in this life. You have everything going for you, and you can do everything you’ve dreamed of. I can’t wait to be standing next to you on your wedding day as well as our planned dream vacations together.

You make a pretty cool partner in crime. Thanks for everything and more – I couldn’t have made it this far without you.

Sincerely,

The other half

Small towns certainly have their pros and cons. Many people who grow up in small towns find themselves counting the days until they get to escape their roots and plant new ones in bigger, "better" places. And that's fine. I'd be lying if I said I hadn't thought those same thoughts before too. We all have, but they say it's important to remember where you came from. When I think about where I come from, I can't help having an overwhelming feeling of gratitude for my roots. Being from a small town has taught me so many important lessons that I will carry with me for the rest of my life.

Course registration at college can be a big hassle and is almost never talked about. Classes you want to take fill up before you get a chance to register. You might change your mind about a class you want to take and must struggle to find another class to fit in the same time period. You also have to make sure no classes clash by time. Like I said, it's a big hassle.

This semester, I was waitlisted for two classes. Most people in this situation, especially first years, freak out because they don't know what to do. Here is what you should do when this happens.

Challah vs. Easter Bread: A Delicious Dilemma

Is there really such a difference in Challah bread or Easter Bread?

Ever since I could remember, it was a treat to receive Easter Bread made by my grandmother. We would only have it once a year and the wait was excruciating. Now that my grandmother has gotten older, she has stopped baking a lot of her recipes that require a lot of hand usage--her traditional Italian baking means no machines. So for the past few years, I have missed enjoying my Easter Bread.
