Everyone joins a sorority for a different reason. Some sisters join for an expansion in their social circle and some for a chance at a new adventure. No matter the reason, going through recruitment is one of the best decisions a woman could ever make. For me, primary recruitment changed my life and my view on my future. With primary recruitment going on right now, I’ve been asking my sisters why they thought Theta and how Theta has helped them grow. I’m constantly blown away by their responses and by the power of my sisterhood.
My roommate likes to say that Theta gave her the girl power and sisterhood she needed in college. She went to an all girls high school and knew that college was going to be a major transition for her. When looking for a sisterhood to join, she wanted a supportive and welcoming environment that would help her grow and become a better person. Being a member of Kappa Alpha Theta made her feel supported and strong with all of her sisters behind her.
Another one of my sisters went through primary recruitment as a transfer student and was nervous about the coming school year. During recruitment she was overwhelmed by how connected she felt to the women she had met in the chapter. She knew she wanted to be apart of the intricate community within Kappa Alpha Theta. The welcoming and supportive community of Theta made her feel right at home and it helped her adjust to campus. It helped her to make more friends, not only within the greek community, but also outside of it through her Theta Connections.
One of my best friends in Kappa Alpha Theta said that at her first recruitment event she finally felt at home and truly comfortable. The women she met were warm and kind and made her feel so welcome in the chapter. Becoming a member helped her to become more confident in herself and gave her an irreplaceable support system full of amazing women, who were more than willing to take time out of their day to help with any challenges. For her, college wouldn’t be the same without Theta because she wouldn’t be able to rely on this group of women to help her through her moments of need.
For me, I knew I wanted to go greek in high school. I had watched many of my friends go through the system and find families away from their families at home. I found just that at Theta and knew I had found a home. I am always around people who I can trust and are willing to help me in any way I need. I love Theta more and more each day because they stand by me during all of my good days and bad days. They help me become the best version of my self and are proud to see me become that person. Kappa Alpha Theta continues to make me stronger, all while the community becomes stronger as well.
