Before I knew what One True Pairing or OTP meant, I shipped many couples. Lizzie McGuire and Gordo, Rory Gilmore and Jess Mariano, Sam Montgomery and Austin Ames, but my favorite one true pairing has always been Nathan Scott and Haley James Scott from One Tree Hill.
Thanks to Netflix, now almost everyone understands the love that I have had for this fictional couple from Tree Hill North Carolina. Nathan and Haley fell in love in high school and SPOILER ALERT they live happily ever after. While their story is filled with major highs and lows *cough Chris Keller and Nannie Carrie cough* they always beat the odds. Thank you, Mark Schwan. This is my definitive list of the Top 10 times Nathan and Haley melted your heart and made you believe in true love.
1. Their First Kiss
Surprise Surprise! My number one pick is this power couple's first kiss in season one. After screwing up for the thousandth time, Nathan apologized for the thousandth time, but this time it was different. He wanted to be with Haley and it was no longer about just pissing off Lucas. They fell for each other and continued their love story for nine seasons. Although it was not always easy, it was true love and it survived and thrived through the difficult times in the series. Always and Forever!
2. Nathan's NBA Dreams Come True
In the season 6 finale, Nathan Scott finally made his dream of playing professional basketball come true. He was called up to be the point guard for the Charlotte Bobcats and when he told Haley that he made it, it was one of my favorite moments in the whole series. When Haley said "You're in the NBA?" my heart filled joy and my eyes welled up. They believed in and supported each other's dreams through all of their trials and tribulations.
3. "Hi Hales"
SO MANY TEARS! Dan Scott saved Nathan's life and Nathan and Haley were finally reunited in near the end of season nine after Nathan was kidnapped. When Nathan said "Hi Hales," my heart exploded. There are not enough words in the English language to describe all of the emotions that this scene provoked.
4. The Cracker Jack Bracelet
Where it all began! Haley started tutoring Nathan, so he would stop hazing Lucas and Nathan pursued Haley to get under Lucas's skin. He gave her this plastic bracelet from a Cracker Jack box during their first tutoring session and although she was wearing "an ugly ass poncho", they soon fell in love.
5. James Lucas Scott
At the end of season four during her valedictory address at graduation Haley went into labor with James Lucas Scott. Naley became Naley and Jamie, the cutest family in all of Tree Hill. Need I say more, just look at the happiness in that screenshot!
6. "News From The Road"
After Nathan and Haley's reconciliation, Nathan told Haley that even though he was hurting while she was on tour, he was still proud of her. This moment not only took Haley by surprise, but also the fans. Who knew that Nathan was collecting memories of Haley's tour? Of course this feel good moment happened in the middle of a torrential downpour, because it would not have been a Naley moment if it were sunny outside.
7. Nathan's Proposal
After Keith Scott's murder, Nathan realized that he never wanted to spend another day without having Haley as his wife once again. He proposed to her at Rachel's lake house and the rest was history. Swoon!
8. Haley's Guide
This moment early in season three showed that even though Nathan and Haley were not together, he still loved her and he would always protect her. He guided her through the school hallway and literally had her back. This small token of affection provided hope that these two soul mates would find their way back to each other.
9. Hope For The Future
Number nine is when Haley told Nathan that she was pregnant and that she thought it was going to be a girl. Haley had a rough battle with depression in season seven after her mother passed away, and this announcement provided hope for the future of the Scott family.
10. Last Kiss In The Rain
Rounding out my top ten is their last kiss in the rain. Their rain kisses were staples in the series and the series finale would not have been complete without one final Naley moment in the rain.
