As my final fall semester starts in two weeks, I started to reflect on my past three years. I remember taking my first shot with my roommate to celebrate starting college, the adventures of exploring the area, trying new things and much more. Now as I start the final year of my college life, worrying about my classes even more now than ever, what I will do after school, will I have a job, and much more, I created a list of just ten (out of many) things I miss from freshman year.

1. The excitement from your first day of freedom

On my first day, when my parents left, I realized that although I would miss them like crazy I was able to go out and do what I wanted and explore the world on my own.

2.The easy classes and not worrying about your major

What happened to the required courses like psychology, science and history? I want an easy A, not a struggle for an A.

3.Knowing you have years to prepare for the real world

Looking back, I can see freshman me just relaxing and not worrying about after graduation. Now I look at myself in the mirror and try to process that I graduate in May and that I will find a job out of college

4. Not having to rely on your cooking skills

*Burns entire meal trying to cook* "I wonder what they're serving in the dinning hall tonight."

5. Knowing everyone in your hall

My freshman year I belonged to an amazing program that allowed me to meet and get to know everyone in my hall, make friends, and know I always had at least one person to drag somewhere when need be. My last two years, I only knew my suite and one other room in my building.

6. Being able to say you'll do better next year

When you get to your senior year it becomes I have to do well this year or I am screwed.

7. The fresh start

When you enter college you get a fresh slate. You were able to reinvent yourself and put away your past from high school. Now you are able to look back and see that you found your true self.

8. Feeling free from the stress

When you start off freshman year your first semester is normally planned for you already and then you just pick classes you want to take. Now 3 years later its like being in a war zone trying to register for a class that you actually need.

9. The excitement of finding a new place or thing

At first you were finding all these new spots to go hang out or check out. Now you look for something new to do and probably say "Been there, done that."

10. Walking around aimlessly downtown trying to find a party to get into

Just Kidding!

"I've only slept nine hours over the past four days, so I'm right on the verge of a nervous breakdown." - Leslie Knope

The library. Club lib. The place every college student goes when they want to try and be a productive member of society. Who better to explain your experience than Parks and Rec?

Taylor Swift in orange dress playing a moss-covered piano on stage with bright lights.

A three-and-a-half-hour runtime. Nine Eras. Eleven outfit changes. Three surprise songs. Zero breaks. One unforgettable evening. In the past century, no other performer has put on an electric performance quite like Taylor Swift, surpassing her fans ‘wildest dreams’. It is the reason supporters keep coming back to her shows each year. Days later, I’m still in awe of the spectacle ‘Miss Americana’ puts on every few days in a new city. And, like one of Taylor’s exes, has me smiling as I reminisce about the memories of the night we spent together.

"Make sure to get involved when you're in college!"

We've all heard some variation of this phrase, whether it came from parents, other family members, friends, RAs, or college-related articles. And, like many clichés, it's true for the most part. Getting involved during your college years can help you make friends, build your resume, and feel connected to your campus. However, these commitments can get stressful if you're dealing with personal issues, need to work, or aren't sure how to balance classes and everything else going on during the semester.

In college, one of the essential things to have is friends. Yes, textbooks, a laptop, and other school supplies are important but friends are essential. Friends are that support system everybody needs. The more friends you have the better the support system you have. But you also have someone to share experiences with. And don’t settle for just one or two friends because 8 out of 10 times they are busy and you are studying all alone. Or they have other friend groups that do not include you. Don’t settle for just one or two friends; make as many friends as you can. After the first couple of weeks of college, most friend groups are set and you may be without friends.

For a moment your world is spinning. The phone alarm has just scared you awake and you’re flooded by daunting thoughts of the day ahead. You have three assignments due and little time to work on them because of your job. You’re running late because you’ve hit snooze one to many times after yesterday’s long hours.
