Dear Winter, on behalf of the entire Southern population, it is with a (not so heavy) heart that I say it's time for our relationship to come to a close. We've had a good few months. We've gotten plenty of use out of our oversized sweaters and riding boots. You've even gotten us out of a few classes, but the time has come to look toward the future -- and there are brighter options that lie ahead. It's time for our dreams of shorts, sunshine, and darties to become reality. So pack your bags, winter. You've been cool and all but let's face the facts -- spring is just hotter.
Ten Things That Happen When Spring Finally Arrives
1. You check the weather app on your phone and realize that for the first time in months, you might actually be able to wear shorts to class.
2. You walk outside and are immediately enveloped in a warm blanket of sunshine.
3. The sunshine, combined with the blooming flowers and baby animals make your walk to class a little more bearable.
4. It becomes socially acceptable to break out everyone's favorite shoe--the chaco.
5. It becomes consistently warm enough to eno on a regular basis.
6. Everyone you pass on the street throws a smile and wave because, hey, it's spring and everyone's happy.
7. You go shopping and are pleased to discover that the bulky sweaters of winter have been replaced with colorful shorts and sundresses.
8. The first spring party of the season arrives...
9. ...and you finally get the chance to shed your winter layer and show off your perfectly planned outfit.
10. The second spring party of the season arrives and you realize that you have the rest of the semester to enjoy fun, party-filled weekends.
So goodbye winter, we've had enough of your shenanigans. It's time for us to move on to the shambles of spring.
