Ten Steps To A Healthier Lifestyle

Ten Steps To A Healthier Lifestyle

Being active and healthy is a huge fad nowadays. Yet, how do these Instagram fit-models look so happy when it seems all they do is eat salads and drink water? Is it really true that nothing tastes as good as skinny feels?! Even though you may be healthy physically, you have to make sure you're healthy mentally too. Both physical and mental health will make you a happier person. I have found in my life that if I live by these 10 steps it makes me feel good both inside and out.

1. Love

Everyone you come in contact with has a purpose in your life. Whether that purpose is positive or negative, this lesson is to teach you about the person you are. God gives us obstacles we can overcome, so do not feel discouraged. Love every single person you meet differently, but in the end make sure that you do love every single one. If you have love in your heart you will feel so much better about yourself.

2. Eat More

Yes, for a physically nice body you have to eat very healthy. But you don't have to skip meals; just eat more and eat fresh. Adding fruits and vegetables in your diet will make you feel good and will even give you more energy.

3. Enjoy Life

It is OK to sit inside some days and be lazy while you binge watch a Netflix series. Just know that getting outside as much as possible will help your overall happiness. The sun just makes you feel good, and when you're active then you begin to achieve more than you thought. Just enjoy what nature has to offer; it will make you appreciate everything around you.

4. Eat That Cookie

Even if you are eating healthier, it doesn't mean you have to cut out everything. It's OK to enjoy something sweet every now and then. If you were to die tomorrow would you be able to say, "Man, I am glad I ate that cookie"?

5. Laugh Often

What is the best exercise for your core? Laughing! My favorite medicine is being around people that can just make me laugh until I practically pee my pants. When I'm with my friends I take a moment and realize how truly blessed I am. So laugh every chance you get, and your abs and heart will thank you.

6. Work Out

Working out doesn't have to be sweating in a gym and worrying about if people are judging you. All you need is good music and some killer dance moves. Just get outside and get moving. When you exercise, your endorphins are released and you become a lot happier. Just like Elle Woods said, "Exercise gives you endorphins, endorphins make you happy and happy people just don't shoot their husbands."

7. Meditate

Meditation will reduce your stress levels; the less stressed you are, the happier you become. You don't have to spend money to meditate. Just go outside, lie in the grass, and focus on your breathing. All you have to do is turn your phone off and go be by yourself for 30 minutes.

8. Forgive

You can hold the biggest grudge on your worst enemy, but who is really suffering? You are! Forgive and forget. Remember that nothing is too serious to have hate in your heart. When you have hate it only ruins your body; it doesn't nourish it. Forgive to make your heart light and warm.

9. Education

You don't have to be in school to get educated. You can read a good book, take a cooking class, or even just listen to a TED talk. You should act as though your brain is a muscle, so just like your abs and glutes you have to work out your brain. Try to learn least five new facts daily; it will brighten your day as well as give you and your friends something to talk about.

10. Achieve Your Goals

When you write down a dream it becomes a goal. The best feeling in the world is knowing you have worked hard and achieved something that you didn't think you could. You get a sense of pride, something you know no one can take away from you. So go out there and make a difference.

Every Girl Needs To Listen To 'She Used To Be Mine' By Sara Bareilles

These powerful lyrics remind us how much good is inside each of us and that sometimes we are too blinded by our imperfections to see the other side of the coin, to see all of that good.

Every Girl Needs To Listen To 'She Used To Be Mine' By Sara Bareilles

The song was sent to me late in the middle of the night. I was still awake enough to plug in my headphones and listen to it immediately. I always did this when my best friend sent me songs, never wasting a moment. She had sent a message with this one too, telling me it reminded her so much of both of us and what we have each been through in the past couple of months.

Zodiac wheel with signs and symbols surrounding a central sun against a starry sky.

What's your sign? It's one of the first questions some of us are asked when approached by someone in a bar, at a party or even when having lunch with some of our friends. Astrology, for centuries, has been one of the largest phenomenons out there. There's a reason why many magazines and newspapers have a horoscope page, and there's also a reason why almost every bookstore or library has a section dedicated completely to astrology. Many of us could just be curious about why some of us act differently than others and whom we will get along with best, and others may just want to see if their sign does, in fact, match their personality.

Being a good person does not depend on your religion or status in life, your race or skin color, political views or culture. It depends on how good you treat others.

We are all born to do something great. Whether that be to grow up and become a doctor and save the lives of thousands of people, run a marathon, win the Noble Peace Prize, or be the greatest mother or father for your own future children one day. Regardless, we are all born with a purpose. But in between birth and death lies a path that life paves for us; a path that we must fill with something that gives our lives meaning.
