Are you a bookworm?

Bookworms are an uncommon breed in society. People tend to opt out of reading a book cover to cover and would rather wait to see the film adaptation of the story. If you are like me then you know that there is nothing better than going on trips to the bookstore, finishing a book in only a day because it was simply that good, or finding out that the next installment in a series you are reading is available. Diving into a good book can release the pressure of a stressful day or be the cherry on top of a relaxing day. If any of these feelings hit home ,then it is likely that you are a bookworm.

1. The one phrase you can be quoted on is " The book was better than the movie."

If you're an avid reader then you know that when you find out a book you have read is being turned into a movie, you can't help but think of every possible detail the producers could leave out. You are fully prepared to watch an eight hour long movie if that means every single detail of the story would be included and unchanged. Even though the fear of some of your favorite scenes being left out irritates you beyond belief, you still wait in line for the midnight release of the film.

2. No scent compares to that of a new book

When you crack open a new book the scent you smell is almost as exciting as the story itself. The scent is equivalent to your childhood memory of your dad's cologne or moms home cooked meals. With every turn of a page the aroma of the crisp paper fills you with adventurous thoughts of what could happen next.

3. Bookstores are extremely homey to you

The thought of going on a trip to the bookstore overwhelms you with a certain kind of happiness due to the fact that there are numerous books to be discovered. The feeling of being in a bookstore is so comforting that you almost don't want to go home. If bookstores did not have closing hours, you would spend weeks there reading to your hearts content.

4. Whenever a reading assignment was given to your class in school you were the kid that became secretly excited

While fellow students found reading the entire class period taxing and undesirable, you were clenching your desk in suspense dying to find out what story the teacher had selected. Instead of following the instructions to read a chapter every night, you read the book cover to cover the first night. Other students thought you were a show off when you raised your hand to answer every question the teacher asked regarding the book. It was bittersweet when you finished the book because you now had nothing to do in class and had to wait for your classmates to catch up before you could get your next assignment.

5. The librarian knows you by name

When I was in high school, I joined the book club. There were only six of us that met every few weeks to talk about the book that we read. Our school librarian always gave us candy and did drawings to see who would win a brand new copy of a book that she had ordered. She helped us figure out what genres we liked and disliked and gave us suggestions for different books to read. She even got the school to approve a grant that aloud us to have Kindles to read our books off of. Whether it's the school or public library, you and the librarian become BFF's.

6. Lending a book to someone gives you anxiety

When I lend a book to someone I always make sure to tell them my list of book care and expectations: "Do not doggy ear the pages" and "Don't bend the cover!" When you lend a book out it feels like you are giving away one of your most prized possessions. You hope and pray that the person handling your book uses the same amount of care that you do when you are reading. You know you are doing someone a great service, but it feels as though you have lost a part of you. In the end, it all works out though because the person who read the book absolutely loved it, and you have someone to obsess about the sequel with.

7. You read books while taking a bath

One of the most relaxing things is to take a hot bath and read that new murder mystery you picked up at the book store. You read for hours and hours and don't even notice when the water turns ice cold because you are so absorbed in your book. Some may find this weird, but you couldn't imagine soaking in the tub without something to entertain you. You've made sure that you don't bring your e-reader anywhere near the tub because losing your e-reader would be like losing a limb. You have even tried to make homemade book holders out of fear of dropping your book into the bath water. After the bath, you feel relaxed and proud to have finished another book.

8. Having books taken away from you was a punishment

Unlike most kids my age who spent the summers play video games or running around the neighborhood, I was normally perched in a cozy chair reading whatever I could get my hands on. As punishment, my mom would take away my brothers' televisions or gaming systems, but when it came to me, she had to get creative. She would often say she was going to take away my books if I didn't do something that I was supposed to have done. Once I was older, she told me how guilty she felt about telling her eight year old that, but it was seriously effective. Teachers may have also told you "Put your book away it is time for math or science." Or family members said to you "Get your nose out of that book and socialize." However, you could not see how your books would ever cause a problem.

9. You have gone to a midnight release

Most people will stand in line until twelve o'clock in the morning to see a brand new movie- but a book, that's dedication. You aren't afraid to admit that you have dressed up as your favorite character to go to a book release or signing. You have participated in trivia and even games related to the book. While others may not understand the joy you get out of this, there is something special about all different kinds of people coming together to enjoy something that they love so much.

10. You keep buying new books

Your bedroom is already lined wall to wall with book shelves, and you keep buying new books to fill them with. Sometimes you might even arrive at a problem when you no longer have room on the shelves for books. The books are now in random places: stacked on top of the book shelves, at least three on your bedside table, some in the bathroom and maybe some even in your closet. But that doesn't stop you from building your personal library. Each time you come home from the book store, you have at least two new books tucked under your arms. Deep down you know this is not an issue because one day your children will have a massive library to choose a bedtime story from.

Every Girl Needs To Listen To 'She Used To Be Mine' By Sara Bareilles

These powerful lyrics remind us how much good is inside each of us and that sometimes we are too blinded by our imperfections to see the other side of the coin, to see all of that good.

Every Girl Needs To Listen To 'She Used To Be Mine' By Sara Bareilles

The song was sent to me late in the middle of the night. I was still awake enough to plug in my headphones and listen to it immediately. I always did this when my best friend sent me songs, never wasting a moment. She had sent a message with this one too, telling me it reminded her so much of both of us and what we have each been through in the past couple of months.

Zodiac wheel with signs and symbols surrounding a central sun against a starry sky.

What's your sign? It's one of the first questions some of us are asked when approached by someone in a bar, at a party or even when having lunch with some of our friends. Astrology, for centuries, has been one of the largest phenomenons out there. There's a reason why many magazines and newspapers have a horoscope page, and there's also a reason why almost every bookstore or library has a section dedicated completely to astrology. Many of us could just be curious about why some of us act differently than others and whom we will get along with best, and others may just want to see if their sign does, in fact, match their personality.

Being a good person does not depend on your religion or status in life, your race or skin color, political views or culture. It depends on how good you treat others.

We are all born to do something great. Whether that be to grow up and become a doctor and save the lives of thousands of people, run a marathon, win the Noble Peace Prize, or be the greatest mother or father for your own future children one day. Regardless, we are all born with a purpose. But in between birth and death lies a path that life paves for us; a path that we must fill with something that gives our lives meaning.
