Ten Reasons You Need to Get a Dog

A dog is everyone's best friend. My dog is my go to when it comes to cuddling and whenever I am sad, she is the first one by my side to make sure I'm okay. If you don't currently have a dog, here is why you need one.

1. Dogs increase your mood and reduce stress.

Spending time with your dog can make you more relaxed and calm. Dopamine and serotonin levels increase when you play with your puppy.

2. Dogs make you laugh.

My dog is constantly making me laugh whether it be her chasing her tail or by running back and forth for ten minutes chasing a toy, by herself. Dogs are the best entertainment.

3. Dogs make you feel loved.

At the end of a long day of school or work, or both, there is nothing like getting greeted at the front door with 100 kisses. It instantly puts a huge smile on your face.

4. Dogs are loyal.

Dogs evolved from wolves, and wolves have strong bonds with their pack members. Dogs see their human owners as part of their pack, and will protect them to the end.

5. Puppy kisses are the best kisses.

Are you feeling sad? Puppy kisses will fix it. Angry? Puppy kisses will fix it. Happy? Still, puppy kisses will make you feel even happier.

6. You will never feel alone.

Most dogs no matter how small or big they are, will always want to cuddle with you. They will not leave you alone no matter how hard you try. They will never leave you alone, but when they do, you will feel like something is missing.

7. You will always have a personal body guard.

No matter how small or big your dog is, s/he will not let a single person get too close to you. You are theirs, and they will protect you till the end.

8. The head tilt.

There is nothing cuter than a confused face on a puppy, with a head tilt. Nothing.

9. They have their priorities set straight.

Sleep over everything. Can I get an AMEN on that?

10. Your dog is your own personal dishwasher.

Anything that falls under the table, don't fret, your dog will completely clean that up for you. No questions asked.

Small towns certainly have their pros and cons. Many people who grow up in small towns find themselves counting the days until they get to escape their roots and plant new ones in bigger, "better" places. And that's fine. I'd be lying if I said I hadn't thought those same thoughts before too. We all have, but they say it's important to remember where you came from. When I think about where I come from, I can't help having an overwhelming feeling of gratitude for my roots. Being from a small town has taught me so many important lessons that I will carry with me for the rest of my life.

I can't say "thank you" enough to express how grateful I am for you coming into my life. You have made such a huge impact on my life. I would not be the person I am today without you and I know that you will keep inspiring me to become an even better version of myself.

Like I said, it's a big hassle.

This semester, I was waitlisted for two classes. Most people in this situation, especially first years, freak out because they don't know what to do. Here is what you should do when this happens.

Ever since I could remember, it was a treat to receive Easter Bread made by my grandmother. We would only have it once a year and the wait was excruciating. Now that my grandmother has gotten older, she has stopped baking a lot of her recipes that require a lot of hand usage--her traditional Italian baking means no machines. So for the past few years, I have missed enjoying my Easter Bread.
