If you are a Goth person, you know it can be tough. You are standing out and rebelling against the average status quo of the world. When others were listening to pop, metal was blaring from your bedroom stereo. People have not been kind, but they also fail to realize the everyday struggles of the typical Goth.
1. Your parents just don't understand your fashion choices
OK, so maybe they didn't ever dream of their teeny baby girl with a nose hoop. They never asked for a bathroom stained with purple and black hair dye, I get that. But is it so hard to understand that I don't want to wear something frilly and pink to visit grandma? You would think not!
2. Nobody understands your angst and dramatic commentary
Something as small as tripping and falling could become a life or death situation, if you're as poetic and dramatic as we are. But people just don't understand how deeply we see things. I mean, I could've tripped into an ocean of sharks! You never know.
3. We have trouble saving our makeup from the natural elements
No amount of Urban Decay setting spray can save layers of white foundation, red lipstick, a killer eyeliner wing and black eyeshadow. It's just not possible, and a rainy day could totally throw our looks off, and our moods.
On the other side of that...
4. It takes forever for us to finish our makeup
I mean, nobody gets that pale white without spending 45 minutes on a skin regime. How else could we look like we have spent centuries without sun?
5. We hear the most ridiculous comments from judgmental people

We know, Halloween is in October. No, we don't worship the devil. No, we are not a member of the undead army. Are we sick and tired of hearing your hating words? Yes.
6. We always get picked on at school
Goth people have always been ridiculed at school for being different. We always will be, but it certainly doesn't make it any easier to be ourselves. Thankfully, people are a tad more accepting in the real world post graduation.
7. Dating is really hard
There aren't many people who we would consider our "type" locally. For such a large community, Goths seem to be slim to none. All the cute guys would rather go out with the "normal" girl than the girl with blue hair and six-inch black boots. So unfair.
8. Not even Hot Topic understands us anymore

When is the last time you walked into a Hot Topic store and found something that would actually be considered Goth? It is filled to the brim with One Direction T-shirts and Supernatural merchandise. It's a cruel world when the one thing we had is gone.
9. No one gets why we choose to be different
Sometimes, normal is just boring to us. And embracing our different fashion senses, music tastes and interests is the best way to mix life up!
10. Having a job is just about the hardest thing a Goth can do
No "extreme" hair? No piercings or tattoos? Why don't you just stab me in the heart! We have to have completely different identities if we want to be out in the work force.
But in the end, it's all OK!

Because being Goth is just about one of the best feelings ever.
