This Halloween, you can expect to see a lot of Basic™ costumes. You’ve got your Eleven’s from "Stranger Things," you’ve got your Belcher Family from "Bob's Burgers," you’ve got your Wednesday Addams, and you’ve got your Harley Quinn from the new "Suicide Squad" movie. But, if you’re reading this, you’re not basic™! So here are some ~quirky~ fun alternatives that’ll really set you apart this Halloween!
). Snake Emoji: If there have been any emojis that have reached peak popularity this year, the snake is definitely counted among them. Celebrate your Halloween with a nod to the #KimExposedTaylorParty of 2016.
). Bad Ombré: Taking the bad and making it good is very Halloween! This look is achievable by A) Wearing a wig, B) paying too much money for a purposefully bad hair job, or C) Bleach your hair six months ago and never touch up the roots. This might be a harder one to plan, but get cracking!
). Kristen Wiig as Dooneese Maharelle from "Saturday Night Live" as Donald Trump: TINY HANDS. SEE ME WITH THEM TINY HANDS. Cons to this costume: your hands will be utterly useless for the night.
). Lemonade: There’s no pun here. Just honor Beyoncé in some way on this most spooky night.
). Vine is Dead: the social media app is going under, so this is VERY topical and spooky. For this costume, wear an RIP shirt and wrap a green jump rope around you.
). Joanne the Scammer as Lady Gaga’s "Joanne": Work that Caucasian Living elegance with a country twist!
). Britney Spears’ “Clumsy”: You, dressed as Britney Spears, on a pair of crutches.
). A sequel to "The Girl on the Train": "The Girl who Loves Train the Band and Won't Stop Talking About It"—I don’t know how this would be a costume but I believe in you.
). Netflix and Kill: Pajamas, zit cream, and a knife!!! Brings a whole new meaning to “Till death do us part.”
). Sexy America: Dress as sexy as you want and just wear a small American flag pin.
Halloween doesn’t have to be a sea of the same costumes! Don’t be afraid to have some originality, some panache, and a heavy dose of irony.
