As students here, we’re all pretty familiar with campus. We have mapped out the quickest route to class, we know the best time to grab Meal Equiv, and we all have our favorite spot by the lake. However, you may have overlooked these hidden gems.
1. Campus Garden: Courtesy of the Bonner Program, this garden is located between Metzger Drive and Green Lane. It’s beautiful and flourishing. From eggplants to green beans to pumpkins to sunflowers, the garden has a lot to offer. Though the Bonner Environmental Team runs it, all students are encouraged to get involved.
2. Bamboo Forest: For exploration or just a hang out place, check out this exotic flora, located across from the campus garden.
3. Art Exhibits: The Art Gallery in the AIMM building is always hosting an interesting exhibit. On Sept. 2, the 2015 Art Faculty Exhibition will be introduced. There’s also the Sarnoff Collection, which focuses on communication and electronics in the 20th century. This is located on the second floor of Roscoe West.
4. Library Basement: You need to study, but you’re sexiled from your room so you go to the library. But when you get there, you find that you can’t concentrate because it’s ironically too loud. Solution: Just go to the basement. Less students are there and it’s rarely noisy. There’s even a nice computer lab.
5. Observatory: Located on the physics side of the science complex, the observatory is available for all students to use. So wait for a clear night and check out Saturn.
6. Allen Drawing Room: Quiet and beautiful, this lounge is a perfect place to relax or study. It offers comfy couches, a cozy fireplace, and even a grand piano.
Although there are a few more hidden gems on campus, for now, I'm going to keep them to myself.
