Taylor Swift's 1989

Taylor Swift's 1989

I was definitely iffy on how Taylor Swift’s new album, 1989, was going to turn out. Speak Now was my favorite album back in the day, and Red didn’t even come close to my expectations. I know that 1989 sounds completely different from her old stuff, but I absolutely love this album.

So many people are hung up on the fact that her music has changed so much from her previous albums, but it is a great album, nonetheless. I’ve been jamming out to it since the second I got it. So without further ado, here are my reviews for some of the songs.

“Welcome to New York.” I love any and all things related to New York so it didn’t surprise me when I heard this song and immediately liked it.

“Blank Space.” Pretty much all the other songs on this album. I could listen to this song on repeat for weeks and not get tired of it.

“Out of the Woods.” I’ve rarely come across an album where I like every single song on it. For the most part, every album has that one song that I don’t really like and, unfortunately, this is that song for me. It is really repetitive and I am just not a huge fan of it. However, I know that there are tons of people that do like it! I am not saying that I hate it, but I don’t love it.

“All You Had To Do Was Stay.” I don’t know why, but this song reminds me of summer. I can picture myself with a group of friends driving around late at night blasting this song and screaming it at the top of our lungs. I might be the only person who thinks this, but I am not ashamed.

“Shake It Off.” When I first heard this song a couple of weeks ago, I immediately wanted to hate it. But, slowly, I ended up liking it because it is so catchy.

“Bad Blood.” This is my favorite song on the entire album. I love it. I may or may not have driven around with my windows down and this playing as loud as it could possibly go. I have lost track of how many times I’ve listened to this song. I know I will get burned out, eventually, but that time has yet to come. So, for now, I will continue listening to it on repeat.

“I Know Places.” This is may second favorite song on the album. At the beginning of the song it sounds kind of like a song Miley Cyrus would sing, which threw me off a little at first, but it is still an awesome song and is a very very close second to "Bad Blood."

“Clean.” I think this song sounds the most like her old songs out of any from the new album. It is slower than the other songs, but still has a pop sound to it.

Every Girl Needs To Listen To 'She Used To Be Mine' By Sara Bareilles

These powerful lyrics remind us how much good is inside each of us and that sometimes we are too blinded by our imperfections to see the other side of the coin, to see all of that good.

Every Girl Needs To Listen To 'She Used To Be Mine' By Sara Bareilles

The song was sent to me late in the middle of the night. I was still awake enough to plug in my headphones and listen to it immediately. I always did this when my best friend sent me songs, never wasting a moment. She had sent a message with this one too, telling me it reminded her so much of both of us and what we have each been through in the past couple of months.

Zodiac wheel with signs and symbols surrounding a central sun against a starry sky.

What's your sign? It's one of the first questions some of us are asked when approached by someone in a bar, at a party or even when having lunch with some of our friends. Astrology, for centuries, has been one of the largest phenomenons out there. There's a reason why many magazines and newspapers have a horoscope page, and there's also a reason why almost every bookstore or library has a section dedicated completely to astrology. Many of us could just be curious about why some of us act differently than others and whom we will get along with best, and others may just want to see if their sign does, in fact, match their personality.

Being a good person does not depend on your religion or status in life, your race or skin color, political views or culture. It depends on how good you treat others.

We are all born to do something great. Whether that be to grow up and become a doctor and save the lives of thousands of people, run a marathon, win the Noble Peace Prize, or be the greatest mother or father for your own future children one day. Regardless, we are all born with a purpose. But in between birth and death lies a path that life paves for us; a path that we must fill with something that gives our lives meaning.
