I thought about whether to write about this on here or not but I think it's important for everyone to know so that there's no more speculating about Taylor Swift's Tumblr post. I know you're probably thinking, "she's gonna say this all because she's a loyal fan". Have I been to all of her concerts and have all her CDs? Why of course I do but I don't think that should be a problem. What is the problem is that she has created all her music and it's now all in the hands of Scooter Braun now that he's with Big Machine Records. She is no longer with the label, but all the hard work that she spent with creating & crafting the songs has gone down the drain because she doesn't own it! I understand that she is about to turn over a new leaf with her album, Lover but that doesn't mean her past music is not important for her to keep.
No woman in the music industry should have this happen to them nor should they feel like they owe anything to anyone, especially Scooter Braun. I think that Taylor should have a say in where her music lies, as she does write and co-write all of her songs. She even wrote all of Speak Now with no co-writers, so that album in itself should be in her vault, not anyone else's. Of course, everyone is not going to like all of her songs and that's ok, but that doesn't mean that you can't stand with her during this time. Even other artists have started to get behind Taylor, unfollowing Scooter after all of this. I'm not saying that you have to unfollow him (which you totally should), but you should take a look at her post and see where she's coming from.
Taylor has truly meant a lot to me these past few years with her music and her confidence. She has taught me to always be myself and to never let anyone get in my lane. I hope that others see that not only is she a lyrical and musical genius, that she is also human. She goes through emotions just like we do and she deserves way more than she is getting right now.
