How Taylor Swift Lyrics Can Get You Through Anything... Even Finals

Break ups, growing up, losing friends, and falling in love: Taylor Swift has found words to describe it all. She's guided me through some of the hardest and greatest experiences in my life. But then there were finals.

Screaming, crying, perfect storm. I can make all the tables turn.

Something about finals week makes everyone turn into the worst version of themselves. It's OK. You're not the only one running on three hours of sleep and four cups of coffee.

Now you're asking me to listen because it's worked each time before.

The week between Thanksgiving break and finals is one of the most brutal. Professors ask for you to give them your attention for just a few more classes and, for some reason, this request seems to be the most impossible thing you've ever been tasked with. After finally putting down the books for nine days, we're expected to pick them back up for the most difficult part of the semester. Asking me to listen won't work this time, because I know you're not sorry.

I'm dancing on my own. I make the moves up as I go, and that's what they don't know.

When you have a test, a paper and a presentation due in one day. Some how, the presentation gets shuffled to the back of your mind, and you're standing at the front of the classroom with five Power Point slides and 20 minutes to fill. And you start doing and saying just about anything to fill the time. Half of it's made up, but if it sounds good, then that's all that really matters. Right?

He'll never see me cry. Pretends he doesn't know that he's the reason why you're drowning.

Of course, there's always at least one professor who decides that their class is the only class that matters. Therefore, it only makes sense that there should be a final exam, a final project and a final paper. There's just no way that one would suffice. That's fine though. It's not like I have five other classes to worry about.

Walk in the street with you and your worn out jeans. I can't help thinking this is how it ought to be.

There's always one or two nights where you have an 8 a.m. final the next day, but everyone else seems to have the day off. The rest of your friends are hanging out and taking a break, but you're stuck in the library wishing you could join them.

They take their shots, but we're bulletproof. And you know for me, it's always you.

Thank God for professors that let you pick your group for your final project. There's always that one person you look to immediately to partner up because you always completely kill it together.

This is gonna take me down.

Finally the day of the exam comes and you still don't know as much as you wanted to even after all the hours of studying. At this point, you know what you know. Unfortunately, it doesn't feel like that's too much right now.

Now we got problems and I don't think we can solve them.

No matter how much you study, there's always at least one question that you could swear was never talked about in class. In that moment, you and the professor have some "Bad Blood."

I know something now, know something now I didn't before.

But sometimes the answer actually comes to you! Just before you're about to give up and circle choice C, it hits you. And that's more exciting to you than what you're able to show in a silent exam room.

I never miss a beat. I'm lightning on my feet.

Coming out of a test feeling like you got every question right is probably the best feeling finals week can bring. After so much stress and studying, it all seems worth it on that walk back to your dorm.

All you are is mean. And a liar. And pathetic. And alone in life and mean!

In the midst of all this, we have to complete our student evaluation surveys, and sometimes we aren't that nice about it.

Are we out of the woods yet?

But after a week and a half, it's finally over. We're in the clear.

Unfortunately for us, final exams will never go out of Style. Although we won't want to go Back to December, there are still a lot of things to enjoy this month once finals are finally over.

Every Girl Needs To Listen To 'She Used To Be Mine' By Sara Bareilles

These powerful lyrics remind us how much good is inside each of us and that sometimes we are too blinded by our imperfections to see the other side of the coin, to see all of that good.

Every Girl Needs To Listen To 'She Used To Be Mine' By Sara Bareilles

The song was sent to me late in the middle of the night. I was still awake enough to plug in my headphones and listen to it immediately. I always did this when my best friend sent me songs, never wasting a moment. She had sent a message with this one too, telling me it reminded her so much of both of us and what we have each been through in the past couple of months.

Zodiac wheel with signs and symbols surrounding a central sun against a starry sky.

What's your sign? It's one of the first questions some of us are asked when approached by someone in a bar, at a party or even when having lunch with some of our friends. Astrology, for centuries, has been one of the largest phenomenons out there. There's a reason why many magazines and newspapers have a horoscope page, and there's also a reason why almost every bookstore or library has a section dedicated completely to astrology. Many of us could just be curious about why some of us act differently than others and whom we will get along with best, and others may just want to see if their sign does, in fact, match their personality.

Being a good person does not depend on your religion or status in life, your race or skin color, political views or culture. It depends on how good you treat others.

We are all born to do something great. Whether that be to grow up and become a doctor and save the lives of thousands of people, run a marathon, win the Noble Peace Prize, or be the greatest mother or father for your own future children one day. Regardless, we are all born with a purpose. But in between birth and death lies a path that life paves for us; a path that we must fill with something that gives our lives meaning.
