There aren't many people in the world that can write a song making fun of his or herself and have it turn into number one hit. Most people also haven't dated as many people as their age and then have turned each jerk's story into four multi-platinum albums.
Then again there aren't many people like Taylor Swift.
Taylor Swift released her first album “Taylor Swift” in October of 2006 when she was only 16 years old. She was young, beautiful and made hit country songs that little girls could dance around to in their bedrooms. Little did the world know how much depth she had, because like all artists she grew up and after 11 years she evolved into a Hollywood-ized version of herself. Now at the age of 25, Swift has received seven Grammy Awards, 16 American Music Awards, 11 Country Music Association Awards, eight Academy of Country Music Awards, 34 Billboard Music Awards and one Brit award. Not to mention the fact that she has also sold over 40 million albums and 130 million single downloads.
But above all she has accomplished what most artists only dream of, completely evolving. The 16-year-old country singer has replaced her cowboy boots with designer oxfords.
Taylor Swift is officially an international pop star.
And we absolutely love it. The girl even has 50-year-old men working out to her latest album 1989, which is a modern take on 80s pop albums. Not to mention the millions of girls of all ages blasting hits like "Bad Blood" and "Blank Space" in their cars or behind bedroom doors. There are no more closeted T-Swift fans, because she has impressively made the entire world fall in love with her.
When talking about her album “Red” which combined both country and pop she told Rolling Stone, “But at a certain point, if you chase two rabbits, you lose them both.”
No doubt she chose the right direction, especially with her release of the “Bad Blood” music video at the Billboard Music Awards. It quite literally rocked the world, so not only is she a pop star now, she is also a total badass and has a crew that every girl wishes they were a part of. And the fans just keep responding, the album outsold any other LP released in 2015 and her world tour has already sold out each town she has visited and will only continue to until the end of the year. Fans should not be expecting a concert like her previous ones either.
"I was very adamant that every decision I've made creatively in the past had to be almost flipped," Swift tells Rolling Stone. "You're not going to see me playing the banjo. It's not a country show, it's not a multi-genre show and it's not a mixed-influence show.”
Despite reinventing herself as a pop star, she is still Taylor Swift. She will still keep making hits and she will still always produce the best break up song.
So keep doing you T-Swift, because you are blowing our minds.
