The Colgate Odyssquad is an elite task force of passionate writers, comprised of all class years, cliques, clubs, and cohorts. Established in August 2015, our team has worked hard to achieve journalistic integrity and bring unheard voices to the forefront of our small community and share their words across the world wide web. Welcome to the Writer Showcase Series, where we introduce you to our staff the best way we know how - in 500 words.

PW: Ok, so where do you call home?

MT: I'm from Hooksett, NH. If people ask, I usually tell them it's the town with the toll and the liquor store on the side of the highway.

PW: What are you planning on majoring in here at Colgate?

MT: I’m a cellular neuroscience major, with a possible minor in political science.

PW: Wow, that's impressive! What’s your favorite thing about attending Colgate?

MT: I really like that you get to meet everyone. Because it's such a small school, you can be friends with or have class with anyone.

PW: So you are currently abroad. Where are you and what are you studying?

MT: I'm in a Colgate study group at the University of Manchester. It's a history program, but I'm taking biology, sociology, and political science courses through the university.

PW: What an awesome experience! What do you love about being a part of Odyssey?

MT: I love being able to write about opinions. Being a science major, most of my writing is in the form of lab reports and research papers, so it's nice being able to write about my other interests.

PW: What is your favorite piece that you’ve written for Odyssey?

MT: I really like Striving for Stress. It was something I always had in the back of my mind but it took a while to piece my thoughts together in a coherent fashion. I also love the articles I've written about New England sports teams.

PW: What is your favorite article that you've read on Odyssey?

MT: I really like Lexi Panepinto’s Without the Game. It's very well written, and not something most people think about. It gives a different perspective on how sports can shape one’s life and the difficulty of living without them.

PW: Yeah, that's definitely a great one. What would you like to see more written about in our Odyssey?

MT: Honestly, I have no idea. I love just seeing what everyone has to offer, especially since Odyssey has the ability to convey so many interests and opinions.

PW: Anything else fun you would like our readers to know?

MT: Umm, in case you couldn't tell, I'm a huge Boston sports fan. I have a dog, and he is probably the only reason I FaceTime home so often. I have two baby teeth and a fake tooth. I will always jam to "Sorry" by J Biebs without regret

PW: Facetiming your pets is really the best pastime to have. Thanks so much for the interview! Enjoy your semester abroad!

Epic Creation Myths: Norse Origins Unveiled

What happened in the beginning, and how the heavens were set in motion.

The Norse Creation Myth

Now, I have the everlasting joy of explaining the Norse creation myth. To be honest, it can be a bit kooky, so talking about it is always fun. The entire cosmos is included in this creation myth, not just the earth but the sun and the moon as well. This will be a short retelling, a summary of the creation myth, somewhat like I did with Hermod's ride to Hel.

8tracks radio

We all scroll through the radio stations in the car every once in a while, whether its because we lost signal to our favorite one or we are just bored with the same ol' songs every day. You know when you're going through and you hear a song where you're just like "I forgot this existed!" and before you know it, you're singing every word? Yeah, me too. Like, 95% of the time. If you're like me and LOVE some good throwback music, here's a list of songs from every genre that have gotten lost in time, but never truly forgotten.
