Some people measure success by counting the amount of zeroes in a bank account. Some measure it in love or happiness. It definitely varies from person to person; success has no definition, and that's why it can be a beautiful thing.
Recently, my older sister, a senior who is graduating from college in fewer than 100 days, has been accepted into a program that will ultimately take her around the world. She is passionate about what she will be doing and is so eager to perfect her craft. When I found out about her acceptance, I could not help but feel elated. I was so overwhelmed with happiness for her, I lost my breath. Now, you may or may not know my sister, depending on who's reading this, but you should know, we are close. So, her success is also shared by me, as well as our parents. Even though I know it is just the beginning of her journey, I know she has not reached her limits. Graduating will give her just what she needs to make a name for herself, and the pride I feel is enough to bring me to tears (happy ones, of course).
This recent event in my life has impacted my perspective on what success is. It makes me want to work harder as a student, an athlete, a sister and just a general human being. As the title says, a taste of success is all it took for me to want to experience more. It's so early in my college career, I feel like the future is bright. I want everyone around me to get this small taste of success and jump on the next opportunity they have to taste more. I will leave you with this quote in case you ever need a reminder.
"Success is simple. Do what's right, the right way, at the right time." –Arnold H. Glasow
