Target Has All Of Your Healthy Groceries As A College Student

Warning: You may leave Target with more in your cart than you had on your grocery list going in. Don't say you haven't been warned.

Target Has All Of Your Healthy Groceries As A College Student

Do you walk into Shoprite, Wegmans, and Wholefoods and sometimes feel overwhelmed with the number of options you have? Because I've been there. Recently, Target has become way more than I place that I just spend all money on ridiculously cute mugs or pens and planners I don't need.

I've found that they actually have a variety of healthy food produce to choose from that isn't overly priced. The produce is mostly portioned at enough for one to two people which, when in college, is important because you don't want your food to go bad or go to waste.

Their snacks come with enough in the box to last you one to two weeks and will most definitely keep you feeling full and energized.

Here are some of my latest favorites from Target that I haven't been able to leave the store without! Happy shopping!

1. Vanilla Creamy Almond Butter Squeeze Pack

Something I can't go a day without? Bananas. No, this isn't a banana, but this goes PERFECTLY with one, or even an apple. It's packaged at just the right portion size, and you can grab these packs super quick on the go when you're in a rush for class. The fat and protein paired with a piece of fruit will give you plenty of energy to stay focused in class.

2. Healthy Choice Frozen Chicken Feta & Farro Power Bowl

Have you had farro yet? Because, if not, you seriously need to get on that! But for now, this hearty bowl is perfect for lunch or dinner. It's packed with protein to keep you full and not reaching for potato chips afterwards.

3. EPIC Chicken Sriracha Bars

I used to love Quest Nutrition bars (which Target also offers), but these are on a whole new level of "protein bars". With 13 grams of straight protein that is easy to digest and pretty cheap, these are perfect for mid-day pick-me-up or a post workout snack.

4. RXBAR Blueberry Protein Bars

If you know me, then you know I have a soft spot for RX bars. I always have them as pre-run fuel. They still have a decent amount of protein from egg whites, they don't have any added sugars, and they are Paleo friendly. I have always found them super easy to digest and give me lots of energy for my runs because they have a few magical dates in them.

5. Health Ade Ginger Lemon Kombucha

I'm not a huge soda fan, but I love ginger ale. Since it's loaded with high fructose corn syrup, I grab a ginger-flavored Kombucha instead to help settle any tummy aches. They're also full of probiotics, which helps keep your gut healthy and functioning well!

6. Siggi's Nonfat Vanilla Icelandic Style Yogurt

What did I miss most when I went Paleo? Sweets? Grains? NO. DAIRY. Like, this girl loves her cheese, but I am very particular when it comes to yogurt. There's only one kind I eat... okay two, but not counting frozen yogurt... and that's Siggi's. It has more protein than it does sugar, and I love adding in some chia seeds, granola, or fresh fruit and having it before bed as a little parfait.

7. Organic Blueberries

Target has all your produce from avocados for toast and fruit for your smoothies. They also provide bags of fresh frozen fruit that are great to add into your smoothies or let defrost to bring later with you to eat between classes.

8. Skinnypop

Honestly, you already know I couldn't forget about Skinny Pop. I can never leave the store with just one bag; always two. They also offer pre-packaged snack-sized baggies that may be easier for you to just grab and go to bring with you. I sometimes throw in a handful of nuts with this or some raisins and make my own kind of trail mix to keep me full since I find popcorn to be fairly light.

Small towns certainly have their pros and cons. Many people who grow up in small towns find themselves counting the days until they get to escape their roots and plant new ones in bigger, "better" places. And that's fine. I'd be lying if I said I hadn't thought those same thoughts before too. We all have, but they say it's important to remember where you came from. When I think about where I come from, I can't help having an overwhelming feeling of gratitude for my roots. Being from a small town has taught me so many important lessons that I will carry with me for the rest of my life.

I can't say "thank you" enough to express how grateful I am for you coming into my life. You have made such a huge impact on my life. I would not be the person I am today without you and I know that you will keep inspiring me to become an even better version of myself.

Course registration at college can be a big hassle and is almost never talked about. Classes you want to take fill up before you get a chance to register. You might change your mind about a class you want to take and must struggle to find another class to fit in the same time period. You also have to make sure no classes clash by time. Like I said, it's a big hassle.

This semester, I was waitlisted for two classes. Most people in this situation, especially first years, freak out because they don't know what to do. Here is what you should do when this happens.

Challah vs. Easter Bread: A Delicious Dilemma

Is there really such a difference in Challah bread or Easter Bread?

Ever since I could remember, it was a treat to receive Easter Bread made by my grandmother. We would only have it once a year and the wait was excruciating. Now that my grandmother has gotten older, she has stopped baking a lot of her recipes that require a lot of hand usage--her traditional Italian baking means no machines. So for the past few years, I have missed enjoying my Easter Bread.
