There is definitely no denying that I am a shopaholic; anyone you ask that knows me can - and will - confirm this about me. I cannot keep myself from buying something that I love--and keep in mind I feel that I love most things. I am literally online shopping as I write this. I am always justifying my purchases, saying that I absolutely needed whatever I just bought. I find pleasure in buying anything from shampoo to designer shoes. It's hard to stop shopping, but at least I'm aware of my addiction and now you can be too.
You find excuses to go to the mall.
Whether you're "just looking" for fun or you truly believe that you need something, you find a way to get to the mall without people calling you out on having no real reason to be there.
You buy things you don’t even need...
Thought process: See it. Like it. Buy it. Sure you don't need that $400 dress but you're in love....Then you justify why you need them.
"I love it," "I have nothing like this," and "this will come in handy later," are all definitely commonplace phrases in your life. It's not an addiction, it's therapy.
You can't just buy one thing.
It's impossible to stop at just one item. There's always just something else that catches your eye that you absolutely have to have.
You’ve memorized your credit/debit card number.
You have no hesitations when asked to state your card number (security code and expiration date included)--you've been memorizing this since you learned how to talk. Reciting your card number probably comes more naturally to you than saying the Pledge of Allegiance.
You always find new things in your closet…
When organizing your closet, you find clothes with tags and clothes without tags. You still don't remember when you bought it or why, but it's in your closet and ready for action as soon as you need it.
…Yet you still have nothing to wear.
Your closet is bursting at the seams but there is absolutely nothing you that appeals to you. Obviously your number one priority is to now go to the mall to find something you actually want to wear.
Sales are your Kryptonite.
Sales are also the best way to justify your purchases. Whether it was 25% off, BOGO, or free shipping--it was cheaper! But you never actually save any money because that sale just encourages you to buy more.
The salespeople know you.
You're greeted upon entrance into your favorite stores, and sometimes even your least favorites. The salespeople are your best friends and are always ready to help you make a big purchase.
