"Don't get a boyfriend in college, college is supposed to be the best four years of your life."
I've heard statements like this way too many times. If you're with the right person, being with them will only positively impact your college experience. Here are just a few reasons having a boyfriend in college has only made my time away at college even better.
As I was going off to college, too many people asked me if I was going to stay with my boyfriend. I've always heard people say their opinions about how it "ruins" your experience at school, how it'll only stress you out, you won't get the full experience, etc. My opinion is, these people just did not have a good relationship. If two people love each other and they are happy, college will not ruin their relationship. I happen to believe it has only positively impacted my college experience.
There's nothing better than being able to call your boyfriend after a long day, on a night you want to stay in and relax, or a day you just want to get off-campus and take a drive. You know even if they aren't completely in the mood, they'll still do that for you because you know they care about making you happy. Having a person I could turn to at any point of the day knowing he'll be there for me and he will listen to me is something I could never imagine my time at college without.
To anyone who is worried about going to college with a boyfriend, or nervous to get into a relationship with somebody at school, take the chance. If someone makes you happy, no matter where you happen to be in life, that's something you don't want to give up. You don't want to throw away something special because of the false rumors about relationships ruining college. When both people are committed, sticking with someone during college might be the best thing you ever decide to do.
