Taking A Final That You Know You're Going To Fail

We all have that one final that you walk out of the class knowing there is no way it could have gone well. As you walk away, possibly crying or laughing, you accept that your grade will dramatically be affected by the test you just took.

1. You walk into the classroom with confidence.

As much as you know that you did not prepare for this test, you're still holding to that hope that the little bit of info you might have picked up during the lectures stuck. Plus you want your professor and classmates to think you have your crap together. It can't be that bad... right?

2. Then the test starts getting handed out and you have a panic attack.

Then as the professor starts handing out the test- you realize just how unprepared you are and it's way too late... you're stuck. You have to sit there and wait for a test to be handed to you.

3. But you realize how bad it's going to be when you read the first question.

We all know that right when you flip the test over you skim the first few questions to get a feel for the test. If you don't even know the first question, you know it's only going to go downhill from there.

4. All the while your professor is finding joy in your pain.

The professor has nothing to do during the time you have to take your exam, so they might be reading the paper or sipping on coffee... or just staring at you laughing internally at your misery. All the while you're thinking: "You did this to me."

5. But you have that one question that gives you a sliver of hope...

You see a sliver of hope at question 20 because you can actually narrow down the answer to two of the options. This gives you a bit of confidence and for the next few questions, you make an educated guess that you feel pretty darn good about.

6. But you still know that you had to guess on all the rest.

After making a few educated guesses that you feel confident about, you have to go back to completely guessing and you know that either way, you're screwed.

7. And you have to hand your professor your test.

That walk to the front of the class is the worst. As you walk to the professor's desk and hand them your test, you know they're trying to read your face to see how you feel about it. You try to hide the terror in your face, but it's basically impossible. Maybe if they see your sadness they'll show a little bit of mercy on you while grading your test?

8. But that means you get to leave.

The great part is that once you hand in the test, you're free to go. As bad as you feel about that test, you know that you did what you could, you put what you put, and it's over.

9. Afterward and a group of you is talking about the final and that one know-it-all says it was easy.

Once you get into the hall there's always those few kids that hang around to talk about the test, and this time you join in on the conversation. As you're all talking, that one kid just has to say that it was so easy for them.

10. And you don't want the rest of your classmates to think you're as stupid as you feel.

After one kid has said it was easy, you can't admit that it probably wrecked your grade so you act like it might have possibly gone well.

11. But that doesn't work so you let the reality set in.

When you all go your separate ways- you finally have time to process what just happened in that room, and you can suffer peacefully by yourself.

12. You realize you hold no intelligence in that brain of yours.

You don't want to take the blame for not studying, so you decide to blame your brain for not retaining any information.

13. Then you make the decision to drop out of college.

Taking a final that makes you question your intelligence causes you to seriously contemplate why you're in college. After evaluating your life and coming to the conclusion you're not good at this "college thing," you decide it's best if you just drop out and become a hobo.

14. But you know you wouldn't survive as a hobo because you like nice things.

Once you actually start to think about it, you don't really want to spend the rest of your life on a box. Plus, you like shopping and going out to eat just a little too much; and if you want to someday own a yacht, you're going to have to have a degree.

15. So you accept your own failure...

The only thing to do now is to accept that you failed- and you're just going to have to do better next semester when you have to take the class again. And maybe next time you'll study.

16. And you own it.

Since you've now accepted what you have done, you have no choice to own it. Yeah you didn't study, and yeah you failed- but everyone is going to fail a final at least once and you got yours out of the way.

17. You decide to plot revenge.

You still feel a little empty on the inside so you decide to feel better you'll attempt revenge on your professor. After all, it's their fault you didn't pay attention in class or that you didn't study.

18. And to eat your stress away.

When you go back to your dorm, you eat anything and everything because it helps you feel a little better about how your life is going.

19. Then your mom asks how the test went.

When your mom calls and ask how the final went, you try to play it cool and tell her it went great... but moms have this certain radar that can tell when you're lying, so you have to admit to how bad it went.

20. And finally- the grade is in.

Finally, after a day or two of awaiting your fate... the grade is in. You still somewhat hope that it won't be as bad as you thought, but deep down you know there was no way you came out with anything higher than a D. When you check your grades, it's even a little worse than you thought.

Every Girl Needs To Listen To 'She Used To Be Mine' By Sara Bareilles

These powerful lyrics remind us how much good is inside each of us and that sometimes we are too blinded by our imperfections to see the other side of the coin, to see all of that good.

Every Girl Needs To Listen To 'She Used To Be Mine' By Sara Bareilles

The song was sent to me late in the middle of the night. I was still awake enough to plug in my headphones and listen to it immediately. I always did this when my best friend sent me songs, never wasting a moment. She had sent a message with this one too, telling me it reminded her so much of both of us and what we have each been through in the past couple of months.

Zodiac wheel with signs and symbols surrounding a central sun against a starry sky.

What's your sign? It's one of the first questions some of us are asked when approached by someone in a bar, at a party or even when having lunch with some of our friends. Astrology, for centuries, has been one of the largest phenomenons out there. There's a reason why many magazines and newspapers have a horoscope page, and there's also a reason why almost every bookstore or library has a section dedicated completely to astrology. Many of us could just be curious about why some of us act differently than others and whom we will get along with best, and others may just want to see if their sign does, in fact, match their personality.

Being a good person does not depend on your religion or status in life, your race or skin color, political views or culture. It depends on how good you treat others.

We are all born to do something great. Whether that be to grow up and become a doctor and save the lives of thousands of people, run a marathon, win the Noble Peace Prize, or be the greatest mother or father for your own future children one day. Regardless, we are all born with a purpose. But in between birth and death lies a path that life paves for us; a path that we must fill with something that gives our lives meaning.
