Thank You, Baristas, For Making My Mornings More Bearable
Thank you for going above and beyond.
After a long and tiring finals week, I just want to take a moment to thank all of the baristas who made it possible. Thank you for smiling at me at 7 in the morning after I ask you for an iced mocha with nonfat milk...maybe three times a day. Thank you for making my drink perfectly every time.
I know you remember people's orders. The guy next to me wanted a Pink Drink, and you all knew. That's amazing. Thank you for going above and beyond.
I feel like baristas aren't thanked enough. They're always on their feet at early hours, and they're expected to make drinks perfectly. That's not an easy job. I don't know if I could do it.
I remember going into the Student Center for some Starbucks during finals week. I expected the baristas to be a little grouchy because they were so busy. They weren't. In fact, they were so kind and cheerful. One of the baristas was sweating so much under the hot spotlights that I wished I could trade spots with her (even though I have no idea how to make coffee). Yes, I can make coffee at home, but there's something even better about getting a special drink made for you.
So, baristas, thank you. I'm sorry that people aren't always nice to you. Many people see coffee as a necessity; I know I do. I'll be sure to thank you every single time, even if I'm extremely tired. That's the right thing to do. It's the least I can do to make sure you know that you're appreciated.
If you take anything away from reading this, thank your baristas for making your mornings possible. They don't get as much recognition as they should.
