Apparently, Jada Pinkett-Smith isn't the only one feeling cheated by Oscars voters. Although the Black Lives Matter movement was a definite highlight for the Oscars night, it seems other issues surfaced after the event.
Feb. 28 marked that day of the Oscars, a day most will remember as Leonardo Dicaprio's first Oscar win (Congrats, Leo!). But while others were cheering for the well-deserved win for Dicaprio, Frank Stallone was not too happy with the end results of the night.
Feeling that his brother, Sylvester Stallone, best known for his character Rocky Balboa, was cheated out of his nomination for Best Supporting Actor, he did what any angry famous individual would do in his situation; he took to Twitter. And here was the moment that Twitter world blew up. Maybe not really, but Frank definitely started quite a ruckus.
First, taking shots at Mark Rylance's hair and then at the Academy Award winning actor himself. The people came to Rylance's rescue, taking to the site to tell Frank to "stay classy," to which he replied: "no black actors get nominated my brother gets ripped off. No the academy voters need to get booted." Apparently, when Frank Stallone gets heated, no one can talk him out of his rage until he calms himself down.
Tensions are high between Mark Rylance and the Stallone brother, at least on Frank's end of things. Stating that Rylance should be "embarrassed" for accepting the award for "Best Supporting Actor."
Frank's argument wasn't all just point fingers, however. He mentioned how his brother, the creator of the legendary Rocky, didn't get recognition for "Rocky" or "Creed" even though he had created a classic character for almost 40 years now. This seems to have merit, being that "Rocky" is still being played today despite being the original film being presented in 1979. That is definitely a long time for a character to be recognized on American television!
The rant later shifted to Frank claiming there was a secret vendetta between the Academy voters and the Stallone brothers, and that they were being targeted as a result. Stallone pointed out this by also mentioning how he was ripped off for Best Song Nominee even though his song was in the top charts.
At the end of his rampage, that Stallone brother tweeted the heart-warming apology:
"I will always defend what right but I was wrong to put down Mark Rylance and I apologize. He is a fine actor but I thought Sly deserved it"
Very sweet apology, Frank. We just have to wait to see if Mark Rylance accepts it or not.
