Many students do not know there are a ton of stores that give students discounts when they present their student ID. Visit some of these places to save some cash.
Apparel: Forever 21 offers varying student discounts with student ID at select locations. Call a local Forever 21 to find out the specific discounted percentage. Students can also get 15% off of the full price purchase at Banana Republic with a valid student ID.
Technology and Digital Services: For music streaming, Spotify gives students Premium membership with a 50% discount which comes up to only $4.99 per month. Students in need of a new computer can get up to $200 dollars off a new Mac computer or laptop with special education pricing. Students can also get up to $20 off a new iPad. Microsoft is currently giving Office 365 and one terabyte of online storage to students for free. The software includes Microsoft Word, PowerPoint, Excel, and OneNote. It can be installed on a maximum of five computers free of charge to make getting work done anywhere as easy as possible.
Food: Certain Chick-Fil-A locations gladly give a free small sized drink to students who present a valid ID. Subway gives a 10% student discount as well when a valid ID is provided.
Entertainment: Cinemark, Regal, and AMC Movie Theatres offer a percentage off movie tickets with student ID. Discounts, movie days, and time may vary by location. For students more interested in the arts or less conventional entertainment venues, the Adrienne Arsht Center of Miami has just introduced a new discounted ticket program for college students called Utix. College students can get tickets to just about every show at the Arsht center for $20. The Boca Museum of Art offers free admission to students with a valid ID as well to view all of the beautiful exhibits.
Other Services: For students living far from home, some FedEx locations offer 30% off document mail and 20% off package mailing. 24 Hour Fitness and Gold’s Gym offer student discounts at select locations also.
Some students resort to keeping tight budgets while others clip coupons. “Couponing has saved me more money than I ever thought possible. It’s a really big help and it keeps me under budget each month,” said Quianna Wright, freshman.
Making sure students know about the discount opportunities helps them realize how much they could save on the things they need and the things they want to do. “If I had known about the free Microsoft Office, I wouldn’t have asked for someone to buy it as a graduation gift for my laptop,” said Danzel King, freshman. Students would also be more willing to try new things if they didn’t have to spend as much money. “When I found out we got free admission to the Boca Museum with our student ID, I decided to go see the Holocaust exhibit,” said Douglas Fisch, freshman. “I wasn’t really into it at first, but the fact that it was free made me want to go a little more because I wasn’t losing anything.”
College students are always trying to save money one way or another because being a college student is no where near cheap. No matter what way students go about it, they should know as much information as possible because all the coins saved eventually add up to dollars.
