Swear And Curse Damnit

Well holy hell it's time to talk about what we all say while the parents aren't around. Take the soap bar out of your mouth because it's about to get dirty. We all curse, swear, cuss, say explicits, use our potty mouths, or whatever you call it. We all do it sometimes. Curing is a way of life and eventually there's gonna be one little "shit" that comes our of your mouth. Is cursing a stress reliever or just something we grew up with? Do we say it when we're mad or do we say it when we're happy? Do we curse cause it makes us look cool in front of our friends or do we curse because we heard momma say it once or twice?

According to a website called bustle.com they say "Swearing Releases Anger and Frustration. According to Psych Central, one reason we swear is to release anger and frustration that may cause us duress if pent up. They say not to bottle up thoughts, feelings, and emotions, so let them out in the form of swear words!" Which is totally not bullshit. Every time we get angry we let out a little emotion in the form of a word. Whether we stub a toe, lose our keys, or even when you just drop something there's always going to be that little word of yours that allows you to release that anger you have. Although I'd say I'm very creative with my cursing. It's not just one word it's multiple words almost like a song. Which brought me to my next question for google. Why do some people do it more than others?

I read a few websites but I found one called 2knowmyself.com and they had this to say. "Its because emotional pain can be eased by swearing. A study has found that rejection activates the same brain areas in the brain associated with physical pain and this is why people who swear when they get emotionally distressed report feeling better." Now I know I sure as hell feel better when I let some choice words out when I get angry at something. One time I said A LOT of profanities due to a bad haircut. It made me change my mind to get a new haircut and made me feel better too! I curse a lot. Maybe it's because I've just been around it for a long time. Maybe it's because I work with children. Or both. It's mostly the kids.

Either way, cursing is something we all do. In our mind, for a show, for the heck of it, or just because we can. Cursing is labeled bad and not suitable for children under 17. Which I can get on board with because I nearly threw up when I heard one of the children I watch say "Oh shit!". Not because it sickened me but I was chewing some food and it made me laugh/choke so it was not a good experience either way. So my final word on cursing is, curse, swear, and say all you want. Because damn it sure does feel good to get all that out there.

For as long as I can remember, I have been listening to The Beatles. Every year, my mom would appropriately blast “Birthday” on anyone’s birthday. I knew all of the words to “Back In The U.S.S.R” by the time I was 5 (Even though I had no idea what or where the U.S.S.R was). I grew up with John, Paul, George, and Ringo instead Justin, JC, Joey, Chris and Lance (I had to google N*SYNC to remember their names). The highlight of my short life was Paul McCartney in concert twice. I’m not someone to “fangirl” but those days I fangirled hard. The music of The Beatles has gotten me through everything. Their songs have brought me more joy, peace, and comfort. I can listen to them in any situation and find what I need. Here are the best lyrics from The Beatles for every and any occasion.

Small towns certainly have their pros and cons. Many people who grow up in small towns find themselves counting the days until they get to escape their roots and plant new ones in bigger, "better" places. And that's fine. I'd be lying if I said I hadn't thought those same thoughts before too. We all have, but they say it's important to remember where you came from. When I think about where I come from, I can't help having an overwhelming feeling of gratitude for my roots. Being from a small town has taught me so many important lessons that I will carry with me for the rest of my life.

I can't say "thank you" enough to express how grateful I am for you coming into my life. You have made such a huge impact on my life. I would not be the person I am today without you and I know that you will keep inspiring me to become an even better version of myself.

Course registration at college can be a big hassle and is almost never talked about. Classes you want to take fill up before you get a chance to register. You might change your mind about a class you want to take and must struggle to find another class to fit in the same time period. You also have to make sure no classes clash by time. Like I said, it's a big hassle.

This semester, I was waitlisted for two classes. Most people in this situation, especially first years, freak out because they don't know what to do. Here is what you should do when this happens.
