I have to say, I am a little perplexed on what I just watched. What a trainwreck for strategy tonight's episode. Hopefully, there can be some sense made out of it.
Getting back from their first tribal council as a merged tribe, it is very clear that Jay, Will, and Taylor are on the bottom. Hannah has now abandoned them. Jay doesn't understand why they did this because they are now on the bottom of Gen-X. Hannah later explains that she voted against them because she felt like she couldn't play with them. She feels that with the Gen-Xers she has more room to work and play her game. We also get another shot of Taylor digging into his secret food stash.
I understand why Jay is angry, but hey that's the name of the game. This is where voting Michaela out is still biting him in the back. There were always going to be some repercussions from that, but there was no telling how far into the game that would effect him. As for Taylors food stash, all I can do is shake my head at the sheer stupidity of it. It is fun to watch, but man is it dumb.
At the Reward Challenge, Dave, Sunday, Chris, Ken, Brett, and Taylor pull out the win. At the challenge, everyone is having a good time, but we get some commentary that the Gen-Xers aren't as close as everyone things. She sees it as her, Chris, and Brett and then Dave, Jessica, and Ken. She is very nervous about Jessica because she wrote her name down the first tribal council they went to. She says she connects with Jessica personally, just not in a game sense.
What is Sunday thinking here? This has to be the stupidest logic in the game so far. That happened on Day 3. Day 3. Jessica knows that it is in her best interests to stick with the Gen-Xers. She has to. There really is no reason Sunday should want Jessica out besides the fact she is paranoid.
Back at camp, Jay and Adam are having a nice dip in the ocean when Adam basically gloats in Jay's face that him, Will, and Taylor are on the bottom. Jay makes it known to everyone else that this is happening as well. Zeke even pipes in that Adam is being stupid and that he wanted to get rid of him last week just so he didn't have to work with him anymore.
Adam is really starting to become Spencer Bledsoe in the fact that his social game is almost non existent. He needs to realize that the game has a jury. He is getting to wrapped up in the strategy aspect of the game. He has no reason to be rubbing this in Jay's face. He needs to be more self aware.
Once everyone has returned from the reward, Sunday approaches Jay about voting about Jessica and of course he is on board because that will mean that his core group will be safe if they can get Jessica out. Again, I am still not sure what this vendetta is against Jessica Sunday has. It most likely is the longing to make a big move, but it is just the wrong time to do that.
Ken won the Individual Immunity Challenge, Yay Ken!
As Tribal is approaching, the majority alliance all get together to decide what they are going to do which is split the votes between Taylor and Jay with Jay ultimately being the target. Sunday tells Brett thats not really what she wants so Brett says he will talk to Chris about it. Chris obviously shut that down because later Sunday tells Jay and Taylor that it will be one of them. So since they both look to be in serious danger, Taylor decides to show and share his food stash and the little information he has about Adam's adavantage. Jay however does not reveal that he has an idol. Taylor also says he is going to blow this up at Tribal in front of everyone and Jay is all for it. So he does. He starts by saying that he had been stashing food and that Adam helped him. As if this didn't freak Adam out enough already, Taylor spills the beans about Adam's advantage and things look to be getting really interesting. Jay even admits to eating the food today, but when he got accused of something he always was able to direct the attention to Taylor and Adam. In the end, Taylor being a food thief was the nail in the coffin for him and he became the second member of the jury.
Jay really played this all perfectly. He got to keep his idol and he always was able to egg Taylor on so that the target would be more on him instead of himself. This was truly masterful work on Jay's part and I can't wait to see if he can keep this up. Also, we will have to see if we ever get a deeper explanation about Sunday's hate for Jessica. Based of the previews, next week's double episode is going to be really juicy!
