Surviving The End Of The Semester

When you begin to notice the campus-wide increase in stress levels, panic attacks, and depression.

Surviving The End Of The Semester

It is that time of the year where you wake up sitting in front of your computer screen with pencil marks all across your face and you don't even remember what time it is, let alone what day it is. As the final weeks of the semester approach, and you don't know whether to cry in a gallon of ice cream or to scream "Hallelujah!" just remember that you have only THREE weeks until SUMMER VACATION. So how can you be happy when you have a million things to do with so little time? Just keep pushing forward people! It is just that time of the semester again and here is how you know that the end is near!

1. Your professor just announced that you now have a group project, a five-page paper, and your final...all due in about two weeks.

Don't even worry. Your essays, group projects, and tests will somehow magically get done.

2. Pulling all-nighters becomes an everyday routine.

24 hours in a day are just NOT enough time anymore.

3. You don't know whether the shirt your wearing is clean or dirty--but it's okay because no one judges here.

Then you ask yourself, "when was the last time I did laundry?"

4. Your outfits in the morning take ZERO effort.

I mean seriously, it isn't finals week if you have brushed your hair, ate a five course meal for breakfast, AND you are dressed for the red carpet.

5. When you're bank account looks a lot like your GPA and you have no money for foo.

So you begin to run out of any nutritious food so you just throw together whatever is available in your apartment...

Yep and there you have it...this is my dinner.

6. You go to see your professor during their office hours like...

And then you're professor looks at you and says...

So you're really just left clueless...

7. Finding an open table in the Learning Commons or the library is about the chances of you winning the lottery.

I mean everywhere you look, you're running into someone you know.

8. You give yourself daily pep talks.

Then you see your pile of work keeps growing.

9. Just when you think you got the hang of things and feel like you got it all together...

You take a look at your agenda and suddenly realize you have 3 more papers.

10. When the weekend finally comes around, but you have to do work THE WHOLE TIME.

I mean you're basically nonexistent.

11. You sit in front of the computer screen with a blank Word Doc...*3 hours later*

And now you finally have your name and the title page...okay, now you're getting somewhere.

12. When even the printer is done with the semester.

It's okay, we have all screamed at inanimate objects.

13. When you see your friends having fun and posting on Instagram.

But that's none of your business...

14. When friends or other people are telling you awesome things about their lives, but you just can't see beyond your everlasting to-do list.

But really its not them it's you...

15. When you watch Netflix for hours.

There's just no escaping the responsibilities.

16. When the day you've been dreaming about finally comes and you can see the light at the end of the tunnel.

It's okay though, because we're all in this struggle together, right?

17. After a terribly long day of studying and taking exams...

Shh...just let me be. No more school...no more responsibilities.

18. You are calculating how low of a grade you can get on the final to still have that A or B..or sometimes just to pass.

Which only stresses you out even more...

19. When you begin to notice the campus-wide increase in stress levels, panic attacks, and depression.

Campus begins to look like a fire drill (people are everywhere). Everyone is on the edge and everyone just wants to make it out alive.

20. When you've reached your last final and finally finish.

So there you have it. Its the last three weeks of the semester and whether you're experiencing any one of these signs, or maybe all twenty of them, just remember that "the end is near!" Just keep pushing through! We are ALL fighting through the same battle. It might take you three weeks of sleepless nights, daily coffee runs, and a whole lot of good luck-- but getting through these last few weeks is in fact, POSSIBLE! So my friends, work harder than you have EVER worked before, conquer these last few dreaded weeks that cause us so much pain, and ANNIHILATE those finals! May the odds be EVER in your favor!!

Every Girl Needs To Listen To 'She Used To Be Mine' By Sara Bareilles

These powerful lyrics remind us how much good is inside each of us and that sometimes we are too blinded by our imperfections to see the other side of the coin, to see all of that good.

Every Girl Needs To Listen To 'She Used To Be Mine' By Sara Bareilles

The song was sent to me late in the middle of the night. I was still awake enough to plug in my headphones and listen to it immediately. I always did this when my best friend sent me songs, never wasting a moment. She had sent a message with this one too, telling me it reminded her so much of both of us and what we have each been through in the past couple of months.

Zodiac wheel with signs and symbols surrounding a central sun against a starry sky.

What's your sign? It's one of the first questions some of us are asked when approached by someone in a bar, at a party or even when having lunch with some of our friends. Astrology, for centuries, has been one of the largest phenomenons out there. There's a reason why many magazines and newspapers have a horoscope page, and there's also a reason why almost every bookstore or library has a section dedicated completely to astrology. Many of us could just be curious about why some of us act differently than others and whom we will get along with best, and others may just want to see if their sign does, in fact, match their personality.

Being a good person does not depend on your religion or status in life, your race or skin color, political views or culture. It depends on how good you treat others.

We are all born to do something great. Whether that be to grow up and become a doctor and save the lives of thousands of people, run a marathon, win the Noble Peace Prize, or be the greatest mother or father for your own future children one day. Regardless, we are all born with a purpose. But in between birth and death lies a path that life paves for us; a path that we must fill with something that gives our lives meaning.
