6 Things I've Learned This Semester

Alright so I did it, I have survived my first week of college. So here we go my first week was great busy and full of all different things to do and actives that the school put on so students wouldn't be bored this all great and I enjoyed ever minute of them, and I have also made some pretty cool friends. My classes are going great and everything is great, but within this week I have figured somethings out.

1. Just because you meet someone the first day doesn't mean they are going to be your best friend all year long.

Alright, I have met about a million people this past week (okay so maybe not a million, but a lot) and I don't remember half of them. Remember it's the first week of college, not everybody that you meet is going to be a friend or even a best friend, but it's that little group that you form or that girl or guy that you meet in you eight am math class. those are the friends you make. So don't worry if they don't become your best friends, there are a lot of people out there and you will be just fine.

2. Teachers' don't really care if you show up to class

(Don't worry mom I am going to class every day...maybe) but seriously the teacher's do not care if you go to class or not. I went from teachers caring if you showed up to class to teachers who don't its great, although I highly recommend going to your classes you are going to school to learn not party all the time.

3. You really become an adult when you get to college

I know what people say once you turn eighteen your a real adult and everything, but here is the thing your not really an adult until you reach college, once you reach college it is like BOOM your an adult. You can't call mom to get that sports physical in for you not anymore, that's on you. So have fun with that.

4. Being homesick is the real deal

I know it is talked about, about being homesick trust me it's real for sure. Homesickness will legit hit you at the most randoms moments you will be like walking and then something hits you, so when those moments come which they will smile at the memory then keep moving on. You will be fine I promise you.

5. Every night can't be a one in the morning night

Found this out pretty quickly, you can't be staying up until one in the morning every single day it is just not possible, unless you have all afternoon classes then you can, but most of us do not so once and awhile stay up late after all it is college, but don't do it every night.

6. Doing your homework is important

I thought I would not have to worry about doing homework, well I was wrong about that, if you don't do your homework you become behind in class, you get behind you get stressed and have to do it all in one night. Hello, those all-nighters. Really though do your homework end of story.

So these are just some of the things that I learned through my first week of college, and look at me go I am still here writing this to my fellow readers. Seriously though guys wither you are in your first few weeks of college or many weeks into it, have fun in college and do your homework.

Ever since I could remember, it was a treat to receive Easter Bread made by my grandmother. We would only have it once a year and the wait was excruciating. Now that my grandmother has gotten older, she has stopped baking a lot of her recipes that require a lot of hand usage--her traditional Italian baking means no machines. So for the past few years, I have missed enjoying my Easter Bread.

I was asked so many times why I wanted to go to a small school when a big university is so much better. Don't get me wrong, I'm sure a big university is great but I absolutely love going to a small school. I know that I miss out on big sporting events and having people actually know where it is. I can't even count how many times I've been asked where it is and I know they won't know so I just say "somewhere in the middle of Wisconsin." But, I get to know most people at my school and I know my professors very well. Not to mention, being able to walk to the other side of campus in 5 minutes at a casual walking pace. I am so happy I made the decision to go to school where I did. I love my school and these are just a few reasons why.
