Let’s just get this straight -- if you’ve lived in the south long enough then you know even the slightest bit of snow is a big deal. People basically ransack their local Harris Teeter, load up on non-perishable food, and prep up for whatever Mother Nature will throw our way. Playing in the snow is always fun, but not for prolonged periods of time. The time will come when cabin fever sets in. Here are some tips on how to stay entertained and survive Winter Storm Jonas!
1. Make a fort.
Grab a couple of friends then go make an intricate fort with all of the blankets and pillows you can find. Get some snacks and watch all the movies your heart desires.
2. Play board games.
It might sound childish at first, but if you lose power you’re going to need to stay entertained somehow. Keep a deck of cards and stock up on all the board games you can find.
3. Tell scary stories or play with an ouija board.
Spook yourself out. If you can, go online and read creepy stories from "Let’s Not Meet" or "No Sleep." If you or your friends have an ouija board, go play with that.
4. Party.
If you can find someone willing to throw a party in the inclement weather, then go for it! Just be careful on the roads and always make sure you have a designated driver if you choose to drink. If you can’t party, just have a good time indoors with your friends.
5. Clean.
Make the most of your time and be productive. Clean out those week old leftovers that you thought you were going to eat. Get around to actually washing those sheets that haven’t been clean since last semester.
6. Catch up on homework.
Classes probably won’t be cancelled on Monday, so you might as well do your homework.
7. Try out some new recipes.
Go on Pinterest and find something new to make. You have to fatten up for the cold climate anyway. I would recommend baking some cookies and making hot chocolate.
8. Create some art.
Go paint, draw, or take pictures. If you want something easy and fun to do, coloring books are nice to have.
Good luck in the storm and stay safe!
