Long Car Rides Are The Devil's Child

What am I supposed to do for five hours sitting in a cramped car? My butt will be numb. My legs will be sore. I will be stuck listening to everyone complain, including myself.

This week my family and I are going on a cruise and I am so excited! The only downfall is that I have to sit through a five hour car ride. Let me just say that I am not going to enjoy that one bit. I hate traveling. I hate planes. I hate boats. I hate trains. I hate subways. But most of all, I hate cars.

What am I supposed to do for five hours sitting in a cramped car? My butt will be numb. My legs will be sore. I will be stuck listening to everyone complain, including myself. My muscles will be tight. It is just going to be a miserable time for all.

Not to mention car sickness. My brother can't go an hour in a car without getting nauseous and puking. I hate the sound of puking. It in return makes me puke and that will not be fun for anyone. So that is just something else to look forward to. Not to mention the length of the ride that I will feel sick.

The excitement of the whole trip, all the food and excursions that we are going on is going to make the car ride that much longer. The five hour car ride is going to feel as if it is ten instead.

Food! The ride is not going to allow for us passengers to eat anything for long periods of time. And for someone who snacks multiple times a day, that will not go down well. Not to mention we will probably have to eat at fast food restaurants, which usually isn't a big deal for me but when I will already have an upset stomach that is not a good idea.

The only plus side is that I will be able to watch four of my favorite movies; "Silence of the Lambs," "Hannibal," "The Avengers," and "The Breakfast Club." Lets just hope that focusing on my iPad will help prevent any car sickness.

Small towns certainly have their pros and cons. Many people who grow up in small towns find themselves counting the days until they get to escape their roots and plant new ones in bigger, "better" places. And that's fine. I'd be lying if I said I hadn't thought those same thoughts before too. We all have, but they say it's important to remember where you came from. When I think about where I come from, I can't help having an overwhelming feeling of gratitude for my roots. Being from a small town has taught me so many important lessons that I will carry with me for the rest of my life.

I can't say "thank you" enough to express how grateful I am for you coming into my life. You have made such a huge impact on my life. I would not be the person I am today without you and I know that you will keep inspiring me to become an even better version of myself.

Course registration at college can be a big hassle and is almost never talked about. Classes you want to take fill up before you get a chance to register. You might change your mind about a class you want to take and must struggle to find another class to fit in the same time period. You also have to make sure no classes clash by time. Like I said, it's a big hassle.

This semester, I was waitlisted for two classes. Most people in this situation, especially first years, freak out because they don't know what to do. Here is what you should do when this happens.
