We all know the most stressful, dreadful week of the year is approaching us- finals week. As college kids with so much going on with our lives, we often spend this week cramped up in the library with our friends and classmates studying all night. This is probably the most demanding and anxiety filled time of the school year so here are some tips to help you survive without losing your mind!
1. Food
Coffee is your best friend. I personally don't care for coffee, however I make an exception for this week to help me stay awake while studying. Besides coffee, the best kind of food to eat is good food – if there's ever a time to treat yourself, its now. Whether it's your favorite fast food chain or the most expensive restaurant in the area, food will work its magic on you, making you forget about your 6 tests for a moment.
2. Sleep
Some people stay up all night studying, pull all-nighters three nights in a row, or function on three hours of sleep throughout the finals chaos, and walk around all week looking like zombies, however for you health and success on your exams your better off getting a solid amount of sleep per night. People may think cramming works, staying up all night before a test and engraining the information in your head, which it may, however your performance on the exam will not be up to it's best if your working on 5 hours of sleep for the week.
3. Turn off electronics
As hard as it is, you have to get rid of your phone. A college students biggest distraction is probably his or her cellphone and everything that comes with it: Instagram, twitter, Facebook, Snapchat etc. You will have much more success studying and retaining information if you have uninterrupted study sessions, taking a break from social media can help you maximize your study time, so you can finally take the break you deserve after all the hard work!
4. Take study breaks
The most important part about exam time is giving yourself a break. Most kids spread themselves so thin, trying to study for so many different exams but its imperative to let your mind rest. Go for a run, get something to eat, hang out with your friends, or go to the beach! You'll be more successful with your exams if you are less stressed going into them.
