Stay Close To People That Make You Feel Like Sunshine

During your college career, you are typically not going to be with your family that you were with all of your life, now it is your time to create your own little family with the friends you make at school. This is a crucial time in your life because you are figuring out what you want to do for the rest of it and your growing into the person you want to become. Although it will be hard at times you always need a support system to back you up and have your back no matter what.

This is where you should stay close to people that make you feel like sunshine.

I am grateful that I am able to say my friends either from childhood that go to different universities than I do or even at school make me feel like sunshine. I know it is cheesy to say, but you truly do need your girl gang to go through life. It is also okay not to have a million and one friends because quality over quantity is very accurate and important.

Who you surround yourself with is how people perceive you as and who you become as well.

During this time in your life, you will grow as an individual and it is okay to stop being friends with people because you will change as a person and want to surround yourself with people that have the same interests and goals as yourself.

Who you surround yourself with on a daily basis will affect your mood and what you do in life.

How you know you have found friends that make you feel like sunshine is if they respect you as a person, your most treasured core values are similar, they are supportive of you during your bad days, they love and will never judge you, and they respect your time and personal growth. With this said everything happens for a reason and the people that are put into your life are put here to help you blossom as an individual, each and every single one of them.

Small towns certainly have their pros and cons. Many people who grow up in small towns find themselves counting the days until they get to escape their roots and plant new ones in bigger, "better" places. And that's fine. I'd be lying if I said I hadn't thought those same thoughts before too. We all have, but they say it's important to remember where you came from. When I think about where I come from, I can't help having an overwhelming feeling of gratitude for my roots. Being from a small town has taught me so many important lessons that I will carry with me for the rest of my life.

I can't say "thank you" enough to express how grateful I am for you coming into my life. You have made such a huge impact on my life. I would not be the person I am today without you and I know that you will keep inspiring me to become an even better version of myself.

Course registration at college can be a big hassle and is almost never talked about. Classes you want to take fill up before you get a chance to register. You might change your mind about a class you want to take and must struggle to find another class to fit in the same time period. You also have to make sure no classes clash by time. Like I said, it's a big hassle.

This semester, I was waitlisted for two classes. Most people in this situation, especially first years, freak out because they don't know what to do. Here is what you should do when this happens.

Ever since I could remember, it was a treat to receive Easter Bread made by my grandmother. We would only have it once a year and the wait was excruciating. Now that my grandmother has gotten older, she has stopped baking a lot of her recipes that require a lot of hand usage--her traditional Italian baking means no machines. So for the past few years, I have missed enjoying my Easter Bread.
