Before 2012, I had no idea who Captain America or Iron Man was. There was a whole universe to which my mind had to be expanded. This all changed the May of 2012 when my dad took me to see "The Avengers". I don't remember how he talked me into seeing it, but I wouldn't have guessed how this movie would have changed my life. I became enthralled into the Marvel Cinematic Universe as Loki stole the Tesseract from S.H.I.E.L.D. and the whole group of Marvel's best characters were thrown together to save the world.
By the end of the movie, I was blown away. I went online to learn more about the superheroes, and I became obsessed. Since then, I have seen every MCU movie, and I expanded my knowledge into DC heroes, especially Batman. Now a lot of people are getting tired of all these superhero movies, or many people think they are overrated. I can see why all the movies can be tiresome, especially since DC has started their own cinematic universe, but these movies are for the people.
Each superhero is so different. Many can argue that some have very similar powers like Marvel's "Deadpool" and DC's "Deadshot", but there personalities are strikingly different. Each one has a story to tell, and they all have a reason to fight.
Superheroes are men and women of action. They all have a purpose in life to protect the public, or undo their wrongdoings, or move the world forward. They see a problem, and they fix it or at least try. Captain America is a great example of this. In his second movie, the government has decided to make weapons to protect them against extraterrestrial life. Captain Steve Rogers is not afraid to tell Nick Fury, the leader of S.H.I.E.L.D., that the weapons were not a signal of freedom. The weapons signaled fear. When Captain America calls you out, you know something is wrong.
Superheroes can also be regular people who are flawed. There is a story arc where Tony Stark has to get through his alcoholism. Superheroes could have tragic pasts like Bruce Wayne watched his parents murdered when he was a child. Superheroes could be women, of every sexual orientation, of every race and even disabled.
These heroes remind us that anyone could do anything they can put their mind to. If you do no like something, take action. If you see something wrong, speak up. There will be villains to knock you down, but you can take them.
Along with the cool powers or amazing skills superheroes have, the main reason why I love superheroes so much is because of their stories and will. Each hero is strong in their own, real way. They also remind me that I can be strong too.
