The Super Bowl has become America's unofficial holiday, where almost everyone in all 50 states gather to eat finger foods, drink beer and watch the NFL's biggest game. It has become such a hot commodity and it is one of the most watched television on any national broadcast. Companies and industries all have turned their biggest marketing campaigns to Super Bowl Commercials, which to some are more entertaining than the Super Bowl, itself. This year was a good year for the ads, where we saw many different versions of the broadcasts; inspirational, comedic, depressing, heart-warming, and just complete bad ass. Here are the commercial highlights of Super Bowl 50.
I. The Funny
Doritos
Once again, Doritos did a great job at making the viewers smile and laugh. The Ultrasound commercial was too hysterical to even process that the wife went through an easily painful child birth. The Doritos dogs were just too cute.
Avocados From Mexico
If you think that a space museum about Earth where Aliens frequently visit to get a glimpse of us human beings isn't entertaining television, then you might as well be an... well an alien.
Bud Light
Amy Schumer and Seth Rogan make a very good one-two punch when delivering comedy and they don't shy away from it here. They're coming in with full power and swinging with a huge caucus. Watch out, Hillary!
Snickers
Who would think that putting Willem Dafoe in a dress and blowing steam up it would make such great comedy. It's fresh, it's surprising, it's actually Marilyn.
T-Mobile
T-Mobile knocked it out of the park this year with two sarcastic commercials, mocking both Steve Harvey and Drake. You got to see them for yourself.
Bai
It just doesn't make sense that a drink that is good for you, tastes amazing, as well. I guess their commercials are funny, too.
Shock Top
T.J. Miller sits at a bar alone, talking smack with a Shock Top beer tap. Both are sassy, both are equally hilarious.
II. The Tried to Be Funny
Amazon Echo
Had way too many plugs and what felt like forced jokes. Besides, Alec Baldwin, Dan Marino, Jason Schwartzman and Missy Elliot all wouldn't be at one place in one time #BaldwinBowl.
Skittles
Although, it is interesting what could come of Steven Tyler arguing to a painting of himself, the execution here was lacking a bit. Skittles came up with a rare loss in Super Bowl 50.
Apartments.com
Well it for sure wasn't funny, but it tried to be witty from the top and failed. Still with the subpar vocal performance from Jeff Goldbloom, we happen to approach George Washington hanging out with none other, Weezy cooking on a grill. Yawn!
III. The Celebrity Cameos
Many celebrities were a part of brand named commercials. Just like...
Odell Beckham Jr...
Janelle Monáe
So Much Ryan Reynolds...
Kevin Hart...
And A Walken Closet.
IV. The Musical
Honda
A bunch of sheep just trying to figure out where they are while singing to Queen's Somebody to Love. Long live Freddy Mercury.
NFL
Data suggests that nine months after a Super Bowl victory, winning cities get a rise in child birth. To find out more, you should probably watch the video.
V. The WTF Did I Just Watch???
Mountain Dew
#PuppyMonkeyBaby
Marmot
What they showed on television...
What the actual commercial is....
Heinz
This is just TOO ADORABLE!!!
VI. The Inspirational
Weather Tech
Jeep
#MERICA
VII. The No-Nonsense
Budweiser
Normally known for their heart warming narratives of the Budweiser Clydesdale Horses, the notorious beer company went towards the real route. Hellen Mirren can tell you what I mean...
Colgate
Simple, just turn off the faucet.
No More
In my honest opinion, this was the most powerful ad of Super Bowl 50.
VIII. The Bad Ass
Budweiser
Making a second appearance in this article are the best bread horses around and they finally show up. Except this time, they are meaner, sleeker and just a whole load of bad ass. This was the only commercial that made me want to go drink a Budweiser after watching.
Acura
What he said...
Axe
Any guy can tell you that this was a great commercial! Ladies better find a man that has the magic.
Mini
Well.... Damn! Well put, Mini! Well put!
IX. The Best Ad of Super Bowl 50
Audi
Not one commercial this year made anyone such emotions of happiness, sadness and proudness all at once. Making an old man's dream come true again, while tributing David Bowie in the background, stuck it home for most. A slow hand clap should be awarded to the brilliant minds behind this commercial. Well done Audi!
