The time has come. There are 93 days left until graduation.
Many second semester seniors here at SUNY Cortland have mentally checked out.
Keep hanging on my friends, we’re almost at the finish line.
The tragic epidemic of paying less attention to your homework and more attention to all the senior events happening Downtown and across campus is known as Senioritis.
A common symptom of the sickness are reminders from friends that this is your last semester ever to do *insert action here.*
However, Senioritis can affect students in any grade, so beware of this dangerous plague.
Here are some of the scenarios upperclassmen face when the flowers start blooming during spring semester and they can see the light at the end of the tunnel.
1. When you get assigned 50 pages of reading for class, but the squad wants to go to Dollar Drafts at Red Jug.
2. When you have a paper due this week, but your friend says she needs her dancing buddy for Two-for-One drinks (Twofers) at Stone Lounge.
3. When you have an assignment due on Blackboard, but they’re opening the second floor of Dark Horse during Taco Monday for DJ Jonah to play.
4. When you have to create Excel sheets for your internship but all of Downtown Cortland is participating in Chilibration and serving piping hot chili and other delicious foods at the bars.
5. When everyone is dunking chips into fresh guacamole and sipping margaritas at Gringos, but you have to stay in and study for that big test. FOMO hits you like a pound of bricks as they snapchat you pictures of the evening.
No night out is worth having your grades tank. But with one semester left, make sure to both get in all the fun nights you can and finish your college career strong.
Just ask Michelangelo.
