Salty air, wind in my hair. Friends were made and memories were created that are irreplaceable at this little place off the coast of North Carolina known as Sunset Beach. There was this feeling I got when passing the "Welcome to Sunset Beach" sign as we entered into the island. Summers were spent here, and every June when we would go back, it was like we had never left. It is home and it always will be. Every day was spent laying around on the beach building sand castles, attempting to surf with my older sister Ashley who actually can, and swimming insanely far out past the pier when we probably shouldn't have. Julie's ice cream was a walk down the road and then to Alley Oop surf shop where practically my entire wardrobe came from. 435 33rd street will be an address embedded into my mind forever, because that was home.
These next few pictures do not do this beautiful place justice, but are an attempt to capture my love for my home away from home.

The Sunset Beach Fishing Pier: several days and nights were spent here either fishing with my dad or just hanging out with friends.

The Swinging Bridge: As a child I would be in the back of my moms suburban waiting to get onto/off of the island while the bridge was open letting boats through. The bridge added character to the island that I loved, and I was sad to see it go.

Sarah's Kitchen was our go-to breakfast spot before we headed out onto the beach to spend the day. 10/10 would recommend!

Bird Island is a portion of the beach that you had to walk miles to get to, but was well worth it. It had a peaceful feeling because normally there is not a soul in sight. There is a mailbox known as "The Kindred Spirit" where people will write letters and put them there to share.

Calabash is about 5 miles west of Sunset Beach. There are several restaurants that my family went to here and cute stores to look around in including Callahan's.

Alley Oop Surf Shop was the place to go, especially if you were a local on the island! This is where my love for surf brands first began.

Last, but not least the beach. Sunset Beach was known for its gorgeous sunsets overlooking the water and I spent a lot of my time here with friends and family.
